I don't know why Atkins would affect your TOM, but it really does seem to have affected mine. Right when I started back on this, the first day or two of my TOMs were REALLY crampy, but oddly enough I am now on a 28 day cycle for the first time in my life. And just lately it seems like the crampy parts have eased off. I really don't understand the relationship!
And Meaty, I don't think PMS is an "excuse" at all, so don't feel awkward about it - it's HORMONAL and with the other symptoms you've noted, I'm really glad you're getting yourself to a doctor to check it out.
My first couple of months on Atkins PMS was worse, but I've been on 6 months now and barely have any symptoms now. Periods started off worse, but now they're much better. Getting off sugar has way helped my mood swings.
Good luck, and checking in with a doctor is probably a good idea.

Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. Will Rogers
Oh I definetly find myself much calmer when on Atkins. As long as you don't go hungry or completely exhaust yourself with exercise, Atkins helps a lot with stabilizing your mood.
