Re: dreamfields pasta
You should try Shirotaki noodles made by House, available at Aisan markets and a lot of Wholefoods and health stores, depending on where you live. They are amazing and virtually carb-free. Also, you just do a quick boil to prepare and then add all your pasta fixings. I eat these and never feel guilty plus feel nice and full afterwards. Bonus is that I heard they also act as a cleanser for your stomach (that's what they say in Japan anyway).
Sorry, not in the loop about Dreamfields... Good luck!

Re: dreamfields pasta
Dreamfields pasta is not acceptable during the Induction Phase of Atkins because it is made with wheat and grains are not allowed in any form during Induction Phase. However, it may be added during On-Going WEight Loss phase, specifically during the Grains rung of the carbohydrate ladder.Originally posted by robinfli have been on atkins since june 28th and have lost 43lbs so far i have alot more to go! but i am missing pasta and i have seen on the board where dreamfields is ok? i was just wondering how it is? and is it really ok to have it? i am so affraid to even think about pasta ..but... if i can have it once in awile woooohoooo!!!!
A few things about Dreamfields...
It was developed for diabetics, not low carbers. The pasta is made with wheat and a number of fibers which slows the digestion of the carbs. The thought is that the digestion is slowed down enough that the product is in the toilet bowl before your body has had time to actually digest it.
With that said, there are reports of diabetics who have blood sugar spikes with the pasta. Others are fine with it. Some diabetics claim that overcooking or eating the pasta cold/cool causes blood sugar spikes. Others don't have this problem.
And from an ADBB member point of view, we had one member whose stomach reacted in an "explosive" way to the fiber in Dreamfields pasta.
So this is a "your mileage may vary" product. But since it's not added until late in the the On-Going WEight Loss phase, the folks who do choose to add it are used to OWL and know their body signals.

Re: dreamfields pasta
Let me share a story with you about Dreamfields pasta. Last night I was craving pasta. I am in extended induction, so that is a no no for me....however..... I went to the pantry and whalla...there was a box of Dreamfields spaggetti. It's low carb so it can't be that bad...right? Well I cooked it up and added some Ragu and chowed down on a plate. It was yummy to my tummy, let me tell you. Well 1 hour later, I had mild stomach cramps and 30 minutes later the gas started. Well let me say that it is 13 hours later and I'm blowing up the toilet. I can say however, it didn't make me gain weight, actually I lost yesterday...so if you just have to have it like I did...be prepared for the outcome...

Re: dreamfields pasta
My hubby is a diabetic and we have been using dream fields for the last few years. I think if you eat the serving size with other foods: sauce, vegis, and some meat you will do fine. I did have some a few weeks ago in a moment of weakness. I ate about 1/2 c and had no ill affects
As a matter a fact I have never had any explotions from it but then again I rarely over eat on pasta.Moderation is the key if you are eating this product.

Re: dreamfields pasta
By the way, grain products aren't allowed during Induction Phase---that includes the made-up "extended Induction" we have here on ADBB. When anyone chooses to "extend" their Induction phase, it only means they choose to follow the Induction Rules and eat off the Induction Acceptable Foods list for longer than the minimum 14 days.

4. Eat absolutely no fruit, bread, pasta, grains, starchy vegetables or dairy products other than cheese, cream or butter. Do not eat nuts or seeds in the first two weeks. Foods that combine protein and carbohydrates, such as chickpeas, kidney beans and other legumes, are not permitted at this time.
5. Eat nothing that isn't on the Acceptable Foods list. And that means absolutely nothing. Your "just this one taste won't hurt" rationalization is the kiss of failure during this phase of Atkins.~Megs~
