PLEASE HELP! What am I doing wrong?

  • PLEASE HELP! What am I doing wrong?

    I've been on induction since 9-3-07 and I've only dropped 1/2 lb. and alternating running/walking 1 mile on my treadmill daily. This is a break down of my breakfast:

    omlette w/ cheese mushrooms ground sausage or
    4 boiled eggs w/ a side of mayo or mustard

    Lunch:
    salad w/ grilled chicken 1 to 2 tablespoons of vinagrette dressing or
    chicken cobb salad or
    roast beef w/ collard greens and steamed cauliflower w/ butter
    tuna and lettuce

    snacks:
    rolled up ham slices w/ lettuce dipped in ranch dressing (occassionally) or
    small salad w/ bacon bits and dressing or
    pork rinds or salmon
    cheese slices

    Dinner:
    sliced pork chops w/ salad or
    grilled chicken w/ salad or sauteed veggies in butter or
    usually some meat and a veggie

    Also throughout the day I drink at least 3 liters of water. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. When I did Atkins a few years ago I lost 10lbs in 2 weeks and was cheating and not drinking the amount of water I'm drinking now. Can someone please help!!!! I'm desperate to loose 30lbs by the end of the year. My goal is at least 30lbs by the time I turn 30 which is on 1/7/08. My starting weight is 207 and I just can't seem to get under that 200 mark!!!

    your dressings are sugarless right?

    i dont see anything wrong with your menu

    pork rinds could be making you retain water i guess

    but it has only been 9 days, give it til the full 14 are up and see how you go, if you're anywhere near TOM remember that can make you retain water too, i gain around 5-7 pounds the days before TOM is due, but it drops straight after...

    my guess is the wooshie fairy is due to you, dont stress it!

    did you take measurements before? i go for weeks when i lose nothing in pounds but the inch loss is great!

      Come to think of it. My dressings are not totally sugarless. But all of them say 2grams of carb in a 2tbs serving. Should I cut it out completely? Physically I feel great. All of my carb cravings are gone and some of my clothes fit better. I especially notice my things are more toned than flabby. I quess I'm just getting caught up in seeing my numbers decrease. Especially when reading all the success stories. I will continue to stay on induction as long as possible. Thanks for responding so quickly!!

        no one reads those numbers except for you, think more about you shrinking, thats what people SEE

        that carb count isnt too bad for dressings, its up to you if you want to cut it out...

        are you drinking anything other than water?

        staying on induction isnt always such a great thing, when your 14 days are up check your metabolic resistance in the book and do what Dr A advises, if he says move to OWL then i recommend you do, i lost more on OWL than induction!

          I occassinally will drink a diet/caffeine free soda or one of those sugar free drink packets that you add to water. Lipton has this Diet green tea w/ citrus (no carbs and no sugars) that I also drink. But my main beverage is water. I'll continue w/ induction for 6 more days and after that my go on to owl. I'll let you know how it turns out. Thanks again!!

            just check on those powdered things what the sweetner is, probably aspartame which is a known staller!

              The only thing that I'll question is two items on your snack menu--they may be fine, but I need to ask.

              snacks:
              rolled up ham slices w/ lettuce dipped in ranch dressing (occassionally) or
              small salad w/ bacon bits Are these REAL bacon bacon bits? or those fake things?and dressing or
              pork rinds or salmon
              cheese slices Real hard cheese or American slices or some such that is processed cheese food?

              Crystal Lite usually has corn syrup solids in addition to Aspartame.

                Did you measure yourself as Dr. Atkins suggested when you started? Dr. Atkins wrote that the loss of inches was a better indicator of fat loss because it represented the fat emptying from the body cells.

                The scale doesn't measure fat loss. If you lose a pound of fat but retain a pound of water, the scale will show that you haven't lost anything. If you lose a pound of fat, but gain a pound of muscle, the scale won't show you've lost.

                So start following your measurements along with the scale weights.

                  The bacon bits are the imitation ones and I don't do the cheese slices. I usually eat the cheese cubes from Kraft or the shredded cheese. They all say <1 or 1gram of carbs per serving.

                    I have lost inches, I can most definitely tell the way my clothes fit. But I quess I was thinking that I would be getting lighter and smaller.

                      The shredded cheese can have starches to prevent caking. It is better to buy a fresh cheese block and shred it yourself-just think of the arm workout

                          when I am stuck i stop buying deli meats and cheese, cook more things at home. deli slices of roast beef, ham, etc... could be cooked in sugar, and sugar cured meats are common at the deli slicer. if I stick to cooking my meals myself, i know I am good shape. Good luck , it will whoosh down soon I am sure.

                            I weighed in this morning and I'm down to 207 from 211 on thursday!!! I am on cloud 9 today. This gives me that little motivation I needed to keep going. Thanks for the advice on the shredded cheese. I GOT MY WHOOSH!!
