  • I ate chocolate

    Oh, what a day, first we get a virus at work that spreads over the whole network and then a client sends me a package....with swiss chocolate...as a thank you for my help.
    Boohoo, what was I supposed to do? I couldnt let the box unopened as I had a bunch of drooling colleagues begging me to open it and I couldn't really let them eat all of it by themselves while it was a present for me.
    So, I took a small piece, the darkest I could find so it has more cocoa and less sugar and at it and liked it.
    I swear that's all I ate and it wasn't too sweet
    What do you think, do I need to do anything special now to even out that tiny little sin or should I just keep going like before?

    I dont know if anyone can understand why I ate it, I didn't really crave chocolate or felt like I really needed to eat it but you know, it just was such a sweet thing to do while I was only doing my job....I just couldn't not make use of that little present at all
    Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

      Although you had a slip up, be proud that you made a conscious choice to have the least sweet piece, that you only had one, and that it didn't lead to a binge. Like Emma said, pray not to start having cravings and just keep on truckin
      I would rather struggle to do this, than struggle with the fact that I can't...

        Yep, I'll just stick to my water (as always) and should I really get cravings and I really hope not, I'll warn my boyfriend when I come home and tell him to keep an eye on what I eat for today
        I filled it in on fitday even and since it wasn't too big, the impact isn't too extreme either...well except for the fact that it had real sugar lol

        I now put the rest of the chocolate where its easy to reach for my non-dieting colleagues and hard to reach for me...hope they finish it soon

          If it was real Swiss Chocolate - as distinct from Swiss style - there may be much less carbs in it than you are even accounting for in Fitday.

          I looked up dark chocolate in Fitday (because I LOVE it, and just wondered......) and it says thata 1.45 oz bar has just over 24g of carbs and 207 calories. But my favorite chocolate (Green & Black 70%) has 14g of carbs and 220 calories in a similar sized bar.

          Their 85% chocolate, which I also love, has much less - a 1.25 oz bar has just 6.7 carbs and 207 calories - and even at my greediest I couldn't eat more than half a bar of that at a go, it's too rich. Both bars contain just over 4g of fibre.

          It turns out that what is called Dark Chololate in the USA and what is called Dark Chololate in Europe are completely different things.

          On that basis, I plan at some point along the route to allow myself a weekly bar of the 85% one.

            well I'd say it was real swiss chocolate, made by a swiss company, sent to me from switzerland and from the customs sticker on it, it wasn't cheap either.
            would be great if it hadn't been as bad as I thought.
            I just go by the fitday version, makes about 4 carbs for the tiny piece I had.

            I didn't get any cravings and ate my usual food tonight, so I guess I'm fine.
            If the scale says otherwise tomorrow morning, I'll kick myself lol

              To jazz up my berries & cream a couple of weeks ago, I took one square of Ghiardelli baking chocolate, added a pat of butter and a sprinkle of splenda and nuked it for about 45 seconds on 80% power. Mixed it all together. It was not creamy tasting, but it was real chocolate, and I poured it over the berries and cream. Pretty nice, and of course, the better, darker chocolates will have less impact. Baker's chocolate has no sugar added. Next time I think I'd add a touch of heavy cream just to mellow the bite a little.
