  • Help with my equipment plz!

I posted this in the exercize section but I havent got any response so imma put it in here and see if its any better.

If y'all have any feedback to help me utilize the workout machines I have pleaaaaase do!
All I have are a stationary bike and some 12 lbs free weights. I've been using the bike, but I really -really- dislike it. I feel "the burn" while i'm doing it, but it makes my bum hurt sitting on that stupid little seat, and the day after I am never sore at all even if I push myself to the limit and think i'm about to die while im working out. I feel as if its only working my quads and nothing else.

I also have 12 lbs freeweights that I use for strength training on my arms, but that only takes up about 10 minutes it seems, and I dont feel like its that effective either.

I may possibly HOPEFULLY be the owner of a treadmill this weekend, something I really really want. I played soccer for 10 years and I want to get back into running. I dunno, sitting on the bike just doesnt seem like i'm working enough of me, you know?

I want to get the best workout I can with the things I have, but Ive never worked out with a stationary bike before (see:soccer) any thoughts from anyone who owns a bike, what kind of routine do you use?
    Thanks!

I am no expert on exercising machines but have you tried HIIT on the bike?

This means doing alternating intervals of a minute or so of cycling leisurely and then going like the clappers.

At the gym I go to they recommend this as being the most effective cardio routine on the bikes.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Don't have any fear that the only thing you are working when you use a bike are your quads. Depending on how you sit you also help out your arms and core to some extent. Even so that hardly matters too much, the imortant thing is to keep your heart rate up and get a good cardio work out. If you do that you are burning calories and that is the important thing.

As for the pain in the rump I experiened that as well but it largely went away after my body got used to it. You proably will too, but if not you can always use something like a small folded towell to give a little more cusioning.

For best work out definately look into HIIT as Elizellen suggested. Great stuff.

i might try adjusting the seat a little, it almost feels like its too high, and see if that helps my bum. Thanks for the ideas y'all that HIIT thingy sounds cool I think i'll try that today
