best moment (1)- yesterday at my writing class - people i haven't seen since classs broke up bout 2mths ago. 'wow, you look really well, you've lost LOADS of weight!'
best moment (2) - again yesterday - gym guy who measured my weight/body fat etc when putting in the details asked me my age and when i said 41 - YES - 41 (even i'm having trouble processing that! lol) did a double take and said - 'wow you look good for your age!' - i attribute it to atkins (more energy, healthier glow) and CO used as moisturiser! ( he was HOT too... so it made my day - but hey i'm happily spoken for ;p)

Re: Best or Worst Atkins Experience?

            What a great thread!!

I guess the best for me is just feeling better and having more confidence. All of my hubby's co-workers oogle and tell him that I'm hot... & hubby thinks so too of course.
Also, my cholesterol has improved derastically!! I've always had really high cholesterol since I was a kid and now it's LOW!
Also, I've motivated my hubby to jump on board with me and he's lost about 70lbs. And I can honestly say he's looking pretty damn hot too! :P

The worst is continually defening my WOE. I'm sick of co-workers and friends telling me "oh just have a carb!" and I REALLY get tired of people putting this WOL down.
But I know that I'll never go back!!
Started Atkins on December 8th, 2005

            Officially Re-Focusing on 12-28-09.

            Was, Am, Will be: 280/222/175ish.
Started Dec 2005 and lost 105 lbs by mid 2006, maintained loss for the most part until 2009...then really let go & gained some back... lol

            so:
            Restart Progress:
            12/28/09 ~ 235.1
            01/04/10 ~ 229.0
            01/11/10 ~ 229.0 Grrrrr....
(Induction= only 6lbs but lost 10 inches! yay)
            01/18/10 ~ 227.4
            01/5/10 ~ 226.8
            02/01/10 ~ 222.6

Re: Best or Worst Atkins Experience?

My best experience, is everyone noticing my weigth loss. My worst is, whenever someone at work sees me eating cheese or meat, they say things like are you sure you should be eating that you don't want to go back to how you were. How ignorant.

Best: crossing the finish line of my first 26.2 mile marathon.

Worst: when people ask "are you still on *that* diet?"

Re: Best or Worst Atkins Experience?

Best: being able to say I've lost 21 pounds since April while certain family members are still "waiting for Monday" to start their "diet" since I restarted on this way of eating in April.

Worst: Having to tell certain family members the reason why I've lost weight is because I've been exercising and eating right, mostly exercising...they go into a "Atkins is bad trance" every time the name is brought up. But I'll have the last laugh!

Re: Best or Worst Atkins Experience?

I am continuously baffled by peoples' vehement assertations that Atkins, despite being recently touted by the FDA as the most effective diet method, must be bad. Even my very supportive husband this morning said he was worried about my cholesterol (134 last I tested).

Just a thought: How much worse than our normally awful U.S. and (forgive me) U.K. eating habits can it be? Yes, the fat level is high, but goodness we eat 5 times as many veggies this way. Drinking our water and maintaining decent iron and calcium levels for the first time in many of our lives.

It appears that the misconceptions about Atkins run deep and heated.
