    its a no-no, the batter is made of white flour.

      If it was fish only and no batter then it would be ok. But what are the chances of you being able to get it un battered? I dont think english chippys serve it that way ever do they?

        Yup Emma's right definately not acceptable. Here is what i found on www.calorieking.com

        This is only for 3.2 oz's including batter, I'd say most fish n chip shops pieces would be twice this.

        I used to work in an english fish and chip shop when i was a teenager...i never got tired of eating it. proably one of the foods i miss most! I used to love to eat chip sandwiches (french fries on fresh french bread).....LOL better stop reminiscing now...it's killing me!

          If you're going to the chipshop your best choice would be the chicken as its not battered but deep fried.

                      Actually doner kebabs arent brilliant either. Those elephant legs have fillers in them too. Shish kebabs are probably your better bet. Pure lamb.

                        You could take the batter off the fish... with enough willpower.

                              hi there, hubby got me fish last week and he asked for it to be deep fried without the batter and they kindly obliged - kids had normal fish and chips and i made celeriac chips to go with my unbattered fish. YUMMM!
