Stick to diet drinks if you can't drink water. Stay away from the booze- in ALL forms.

Eat before you go. If that means you tuck something in your purse, then do that. If you have to pack a small cooler with a salad or something, then do that. That way you don't have to be hungry but you don't have to go off plan either.

The veggies and meat aren't what's going to get you. Its going to be the sauces they're in. Avoid them if possible, and if you're not sure of something - don't eat it. It ain't worth it.

Congrats to your brother on being a

vol-au vents -- big no no -- you will find that pastry has flour etc. Also the filling may include a sauce that is thickened with cornstarch. The soup sounds like it could be ok but there maybe hidden carbs in it. I would definately have a meal before you go so you wont be hungry ( and have some allowed snacks in your bag!) the main course sounds good though - without the potato of course. Have a great time !

You might ask your brothers new Bride if she minds if you ask the caterer to give you a dish that does not have the "no-no's" on it. Don't ask for anything special to be made.. Just a piece of beef with no sauce and bring your own veggies or salad to go with it. Most caterers don't mind as long as they can plan a head. You can make it easier on them by telling them you'll come to the kitchen door to pick it up instead of them having to find you while they are busy serving..

            Re: Brothers wedding- need advice

There are a lot of people who will tell you to work around the wedding and try to have everyone adapt to your dietary restrictions and you can decide to do that. I personally would take the perspective that I want to enjoy the wedding and I would eat the meal presented since it's so important.

That said, if you want to continue living this kind of weight reducing lifestyle, you'll have to make sure and get back on induction the next day. A good way to do that is to have eggs the next morning when you wake up with a wrecking hangover!

                oh weddings...yes, yes.
I had to go to one last year and it threw me back quite a bit because I didnt know what to expect and the choices of food were basically all a nono for low carbers.
its good you are prepared and know what to expect, that'll help a great deal.
sounds to me like you'll be fine.

I totally agree with Brook. I've been to weddings, anniversaries, etc. during my Atkins. Meat and veg are served, but they are so filled with flour thicken sauces, etc. that the meat and the veg might be the only thing you can eat. I was at one wedding where the entree was 1/3 of a chicken breast and 5 green beans on top of a mound of rice pilaf.

So eat a full meal before you go to the wedding. And bring a snack before the reception.

And have fun at the wedding--dance, chat, whatever. No one will hold you down and force food down your throat, unless you let them!
