Talking on the phone at the gym???

I went to the gym last night and I'm on my way over to the ellipticals and there's a guy on one that's talking on his phone while working out? He's talking really fast and he's totally out of breath..how dumb is this?? Has anyone else seen someone talkin on the phone when they're working out? I really dont understand people sometimes haha

I have seen people reading a book whilst using the stationary bike, which I thought was odd. But never seen someone talking on a phone.

Yeah I've seen people reading books too, but this was just odd to me I wouldnt be able to have a conversation with someone on the phone while working out, maybe I'm just not multi-talented or something? haha

I could do it if I had a pair of head phones in and talking hands free. BUt would I WANT to do it is another thing tbh.

In our gym there is a printed notice banning the use of mobile phones, and the instructors quietly ask them to turn the phone off if they spot anyone doing this. And as most of them are superfit with impressive musculature we tend to do what they ask!! I even noticed one big bloke who never wipes off the equipment doing so after being 'asked' to clean off after himself the other day!

I love seeing those of you that are from England in these threads.. Im origionally from Great Yarmouth.. and its a breath of freash air to see things like "bloke" and "pounds" used for something other than weight!

There is a guy at my gym I see every time I am there, since it seems we go at the same time. The entire time he is on his treadmill - in full-speed sprint mode at that - he's having a yelling conversation on his cell phone. "Great numbers! <pant, gasp> Get back to me when it closes!! <grunt>"

My office in London, had a gym.

In the evenings there was a co-worker on the exercise bike, who would drink a Budweiser bottle and smoke at the same time.

He claimed it was a debit and credit situation.

Kinda made sense at the time. Silly, but it made me laugh each time I saw him.

OMG that's so bizarre. I was going to say it always makes me laugh when I see someone cycling along the road and smoking - but that is way worse.

We've got signs in our gym to tell people not to use mobiles as it affect the heart monitor measuring device inside the cardio machines....but not everyone adheres to it! One thing that really gripes me in the gym is when people dont clean the equipment when they've used it, esp when someone's done a long workout and sweats all over the equipment....YUCK!!!

Ready to be grossed out ....
There is a guy at my gym who is still rather overweight. He wears a plastic Kagoul (all in one rain coat thingy) whilst he is running, sweat drips off the bottom of it onto the treadmill while he is running and you can see it sticking to him in wet patches (very hair body). When he is done he pulls it off and sprays sweat everywhere!! Yes, I have complained about him.

I've read while on the stationary bike.

lol I remember coming downstairs, and I see my mother-in-law sitting on her exercise machine...smoking, eating chocolate and talking on the phone. I had to laugh at her and tease her. What a sight.
