  • Buffets in Vegas - any tips?

We're going to Vegas for the long weekend and buffets are on the cards which is great because I can choose what I want but dangerous because even safe-looking items will probably be illegal. I've stalled before by getting the deli stuff at Wholefoods and thing I was homefree, then feeling really full and gaining a few pounds overnight.
Does anyone have advice on how I should handle this so as not to stall? Also, if I were to indulge in an alcoholic drink, what kind of low-carb cocktail could I order without the waitress thinking I'm too high maintenance?

    Thanks!!

They key to easting out is to ask questions. Ask whats in it and how its made. Beware of any sauces. Many buffets have carving stations, that is usually a safe choice.
Beware of SF jello many times I have found it to be the read stuff.
If you are in the alcohol rung there are many things you can drink, hard alcohol mixed with diet soda or seltzer. Wine is also ok in most cases. Ther is a list in your DANDR

As Lauren said on the alcohol rung you can have many different drinks, white/red wine (they do have a carb count you should look it up before you go), any hard liquor with a dieta soda, I like rum/diet coke or vodka diet coke or vodka/soda. One thing to be aware of is that unless tonic water is actually labelled as diet or sugar free, it has a very high carb count...it's very different from soda water.

You should be able to do well at a buffet, meats, salads, steamed veggies...I've found buffets to be easy..the only time i've had an issue is when it was a chinese buffet.

Good luck and have fun in Vegas!

Good luck asking how it's made and what's in it in Vegas. I just returned from there and you'll be lucky if the carver understands what you're requesting. I ended up just pointing.

Haha. We must have been there at the same time. I managed to get by but know what you mean. It's so hard to stop at buffets, I should avoid them like the plague!
