Okay, I need some help.
I read in the replies to someone elses post that the ketostix are pretty much useless... which I am beginning to completely agree with since mine are showing all over the light pink range no matter how little or many veggie carbs I'm eating. On like the fourth day of induction it did show the on the medium one and when I cut down the size of my salad (think I was eating too much of it) the darn sticks started showing trace. Argh.. it's frustrating. Anyway.. all that stick stuff is past. No more worries about them now that you've helped me with that.
My problem right now is that I'm not losing near as much as I've expected to. My friend who is smaller than me lost double digits on induction. I started at 360 and as of day 10 am at 355.4. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for the loss. At this size any loss is good. However in thinking ahead I'm worried about being stuck on two cups of salad and 1 cup of veggies for the rest of the foreseeable future. If all I lose in one week is 2.5lbs at 20 carbs when I go onto the next phase in a few months how am I going to lose any at all when the carbs are upped slightly? Especially considering the fact that I'm not actually having the full 20 carbs. I checked on how much salad I was eating before and it wasn't a full two cups. I have to be doing something wrong that I just don't know I'm doing.
I was taking a multi-vitamin and fiber capsules neither of which shows a carb count or sugar in the ingrediants but I stopped those in case they were the problem.
Here is what I have been eating in case some of you can look at it and tell me what I'm doing wrong.
For breakfast (when I have breakfast that is) I've only had omeletts. Eggs, cheese, bacon or sometimes pepperoni (pepperoni being the only processed thing I've had since the third day).
For lunch I've had either baked chicken, tuna salad (eggs, mayo, tuna), small amount of pork rinds, or leftover dinner meat listed below.
For dinners I've had beef roast, boneless porkchops, hamburgers, baked and grilled chicken.
Other veggies at one cup or less: canned french style green beans (checked the label and it doesn't say any sugar), canned spinach (checked the label for it as well), Fresh and frozen broccoli, fresh celery, fresh cauliflower.
Salad Dressing: Krogers brand ranch (controlling my amount of it)
In the beginning of induction I was having a few diet A&W rootbeers (1 a day at dinner and after drinking several 20 ounce cups of water throughout the day) but I've cut those out as well. Water has been my only drink for days now.
Exercise: Little to none. I don't want to be graphic but I'm having problems with my totm. I've been on it for over 30 days now and the doctor says I shouldn't do too much to keep myself from making it worse. I am doing the little changes that I can do until then. Walking more than I was before.
Please comment on what you think may be the problem. I know atkins works. I've read most of the book (I didn't concern myself yet with the futher away phases because I'm not even close to being those) and I see the wisdom in what the doctor is saying. Low fat diets didn't help me either. I've low fatted myself up to this weight. I know I have to be doing something wrong so if you have any suggestions I am open to hearing them.
Do you think I may well be in ketosis but not shedding more pounds because the activity I am doing is only enough to burn off the 20 or less carbs I am eating?
Thank you so much everyone for your help and advice.
And sorry it's such a long post. Lol I am obviously a type-o-holic.
