Re: Chinese Food
Most of the soups in chinese restaurants are thickened with corn starch, so they are off limits. BTW, Chinese food and even Japanese food are notorious for added sugars and added starches. So be aware of this.Originally posted by moxie02What Chinese Restaurant soups am I allowed to have during my induction stage. I already lost 10 lbs in 13 days. Whoo hoo!!~Megs~

Re: Chinese Food
egg drop, really? The egg drop soup in all the restaurants around here have cornstarch and corn kernels added. Although 'real' egg drop, which is only thickened with beaten eggs would probably be okay. But I have never seen the like around here. Maybe we just don't have high class Asian food places?
What about hot and sour soup? It is generally a thin broth soup with a few veggies, some sort of mushroom and, I think, some tofu.
I have to agree with the caution about starch and sugar-it is part of what makes Chinese food so addictive for me.

Re: Chinese Food
Try making faux fried rice, off of linda's low carb site. It's sooo yummy. My fiance and I added shrimp to the faux fried rice. Tasted like shrimp fried rice.
