I am SO BUMMED! I just got off "TOM" and weighed today..I am the same I was pre TOM...

The stick didnt turn yesterday when I tried it...
I have been using the splenda sweetened creamer in coffee and have had crystal light and soda over the weekend when we went camping..

    steak and artichoke
    tuna , mayo and egg
    romaine
    butter
boars head deli turkey and roast beef
    south beach grey poupon
    pork rinds
    water
    diet lime soda

thats what I had in a lump sum...

last few days the coffee and creamer
    chicken
    pork chop
    canadian bacon slices
    tuna
    eggs
    mayo
    mustard
    crystal light
    water

is this program not going to work for me?

    Re: Helppppppppppppppp

I'm yet to meet anyoen that this program hasnt worked for who has done it by the book, so i wouldnt think in that direction.

keep with everything, weight in weekly, remember you're not in a stall until youve had 4 consecutive weeks of no loss and no inches, have you been measuring? if not start now!

most people find that when the scales dont move, the tape measure does, and vice versa.

watch your crystal light, ensure you dont drink it in place of water and be sure that you're drinking the one sweetened with splenda rather than aspartame.

Ignore the sticks, they suck. they only work for me when they feel like it!

yes i would think it was the diet pop and the crystal light...ASPERTAME is deadly to me on this diet..sorry to use that word but I stalled myself for 3 weeks just for having a half piece of gum a few times....and that drove me crazy to think that a little piece of gum did that...its not worth it..buckle down and get that out and u should see a difference!!

Hey you got off TOM and didn't gain...see it that way.
I'd be absolutely happy if I got off TOM and my weight didn't change...I always gain....most of us gain from what I understand and it takes a few days to get over that again.
Maybe you lost actual weight but gained TOM weight...that means in a few days you'll see the loss.
There is no reason why Atkins shouldn't work for you if you follow the rules.
You have followed the rules so just give it a few days now and check again.

You're just not going to register losses on the scale consistently. The measuring tape is a better judge.

You're going to go up and down, down and up, gradually getting lower on the scale. In between, there are little "pauses" while the body adjusts itself.

Tape Measure: I've lost 42.5 inches as of 3/15/2008

          Mini goals:
          215 - met 9/10/07
          205 - met 10/17/07
          195 - met 2/20/08
          180

          I survived a two-month stall!

Give it a day or two, your body could be adjusting to the TOM change. I just had it, it took two days for my body to register a loss after that.

Hang in there - it does work!!

              Re: Helppppppppppppppp

Hm. I have seen so many people post worries similar to yours.

Not sure why, but there seems to be a persistent 'urban legend' that we are supposed to experience a noticeable drop in scale weight after each TOM (or after a 'cheat' session). I know some do, sometimes, but then they often expect that to happen every time and then they panic when the scale stays the same or even goes up a bit next month.

A lot of low carb newbies get lots of strange ideas about the 'whooshie' effect from those who report results that are relatively uncommon. Then they think low carb doesn't work or isn't for them because they get discouraged fairly early on when their results don't mimic what they have read.

Personally,in nearly 8 years I don't EVER remember being able to connect a fat loss directly to TOM--although I can gain up to 5 pounds of bloat during that time and also mid-cycle. That gain does go, but doesn't necessarily take anything with it.

I'm kind of guessing here, but it appears you are in induction still, which is the time most people see a quick loss mostly due to excess fluids being flushed. If you have had hormonal fluctuations or ate a lot of sodium over the weekend or used a lot of artificial sweeteners (can cause problems for some, as has been said here), or if you didn't drink enough water or did a lot of hiking or other activities, you may be retaining some fluid that you otherwise would have let go. There are many factors to be considered, and sometimes the best thing to do is just keep plugging and look back in a month or so to evaluate whether this will work for you.

No advice there, just info that might help you feel a little more comfortable with giving this program a fair shot over a longer time period.

I agree with all the previous posts. Don't look back and don't compare yourself to anyone else. You didn't gain and thats a good thing.

                Measure yourself and keep going.
Drink lots of water - (stay away from the soda and crystal light),
                exercise and
don't put your trust in the scales or the sticks.

                It will happen.
Think positive thoughts and keep a good attitude to stay motivated.

I am bacck in the saddle and cannot report if the same is true as TOM this month will be my first low carb TOM in a while but previously it often took a week or more to see a loss after TOM left!!! It used to be so frustrating to me because i would only lose two weeks out of the month sometimes even one week a month i would see losses. Have patience and if you need inspiration go hang out in the success stories forum or the before and after pics Patience is key.

GG, I don't see enough vegetables in your list. On Induction, you need to eat 2 cups of 'salad' veggies and 1 cup of veggies from the other 'acceptable' list. Half of your carbs should come from the vegetables.

yes I know...I forgot to add I had onion and red peppers with italian sausage..more of the peppers than onion..

I tend to lose better without so many veggies but know that is a NO NO...

I have read that not doing enough carbs will stall...

                        True??

I gotta agree with this, tho I don't do coffee or creamer, I sometimes like REAL cream or half and half in my tea. I do have to ask why would anyone want to use imitation stuff when the real thing is perfectly fine?

GG, I wanted to share that I seem to lose best over the long term when my low carb veggies are up around 2 or 3 cups per day--plus a salad. I know everyone is different, but I don't think the low carb veggies are going to stall too many people who are otherwise following the guidelines properly. Besides, they are loaded with important nutrients and fiber.
