Okay... here is my dirty little secret. I've been on this diet since September first and I only weigh on average once a month. I want this way of eating to last for me but I also want to lose weight quickly. The first month on this diet I lost 26.5 lbs. I have not weighed again since then because I'm afraid of the scale. Thats my first dirty little secret. My second is that even though I'm well out of the induction, I rarely get above 20 grams of carbs a day. Sometimes I have a hard time getting above 15. I've recently put a lot of effort into getting more of the 'good' carbs into me but for some reason I've gone 'carb phoebic' People say that when you stay on the extended induction that you actually can stall and the way to unstall so to speak is to go into the 1st owl rung which is more vegetables. I'm really trying to stay motivated and need that little oomph from you guys!!

Re: Owl Rung One Questions
First Rung of OWL, you add 5 net carbs of any of the Induction vegetables to your Induction menu. Valid Rouge brought up a good point in another thread: people get nervous about adding 5 net carbs of vegetables to their diets, but they have no problem making sure they fit in 3 carbs of Splenda, egg carbs, cream carbs, salad dressing carbs, pepperoni carbs, bacon carbs into it. Vegetables have more beneficial nutrients than Splenda or heavy cream.Originally posted by shari_dawnOkay... here is my dirty little secret. It has been the experience of many "second timers" and Extended Induction folks that their weight loss improves when they move to OWL phase. Dr. Atkins wrote in the book that the only people who may benefit from extending Induction phase are those with a high metabolic resistance to weight loss. You lost about 6 pounds a week during your first month on Atkins---congrats, you don't have a high metabolic resistance to weight loss.
As for weighing, you don't have to do it at all. But if you don't weigh, you should monitor your weight loss by keeping track of your measurements.~Megs~
