Water Bottles and the Environment

Hi Everyone,
I just want to mention since we are crazy water drinking maniacs these days, is to be mindful of plastic water bottles and the environment. Brand water bottles that you purchase at the store have to be trucked to get there using precious resources. They also use a lot of energy just to recycle them. There is no reason we need to buy those in bulk. I am happy that they are available in a pinch when I am away from home, but I do not buy cases of them to have on hand. Use reusable bottles for your water consumption. Many companies now, including my husbands have stopped buying bottled water for their employees for this very reason. If your area does not have good tasting tap water get a jug water dispenser, they are cheaper than buying bottled water and much more eco-friendly... Thanks for reading!

I have horrible tasting municipal water. But I never saw the logic in spending money for bottled water, when I could just use a filter pitcher. Just me, I suppose because I'm a penny pincher....

she's saying help the environment. There's no need in buying all of those bottles...at least that's what I took from it.

And interesting you should post this because I was thinking about the fact that my favorite water bottle is a bottle that I've carried around and rewashed...I think it's a Crystal water. I love that bottle! I normally buy the 2 gallon bottles of water and then fill up my 32 oz bottle from that.

Yes that is what I meant. It has nothing to do with taste or health. Just the health of the planet. Re-use, use a nalgene-type container, a jug with a filter that Megs mentioned, a water dispenser or just plain old tap. Just putting it out there.

Thats what I thought you meant, but wasnt sure.

I buy water in bulk sometimes, when its on sale. I normally buy a Liter size bottle at the store, and use it for a few days. I try to drink 4 or 5 of them a day (refilling the same bottle).

I'm lucky we have great tap water here. even if we didn't though..i'd still just use a filter for the tapwater. i use a nalgene bottle for my tap water.

It makes me cringe on recycling day here to see all the hundreds of water bottles in peoples recycling bags.

I also know that here anyway (canada) bottled water is not regulated, so really..your tap water could actually be safer...

I am also lucky we have great tap water. Only when I am traveling do I buy bottles.
