  • Admiration for Netrition

I ordered my baking mix 2 days ago and got it today.

On top of that - I was on Atkins in 2003 and they STILL had my information from what I ordered there! Granted the last order I placed with them was all for DaVinci Syrups - but my kids like those things and so I even ordered more today for them (they flavor their milk with 1/2 a pump of whichever flavor they feel like)

I just have to commend a company that sends a note that says WELCOME BACK handwritten on my invoice/packing slip.

I was looking at ordering a few things from them but was hesitant. Thanks for posting this.

Just a reminder that baking mix, etc., is not allowed in induction and for the first rungs of OWL.

        Re: Admiration for Netrition

Actually I found 4-5 recipes in the Atkins cookbook that use the mix and are marked safe for induction. They only use about 2 TBSP - 1/2 cup for the entire recipe which usually serves 6. I'll see if I can find them later today and post them.

Thank goodness I saved all my older Atkins cookbooks from when he was alive - I don't like the newer ones.

I found 2 of the recipes right away.... Atkins Cheese Sticks (takes 1 cup) & Garlic Toast Crisps. Both say they are safe for phase 1 which would be induction.

However - I did notice it was copyrighted 2004 not 2002 which I thought it was (I swear it's been here forever). It has a lot of "Atkins foods" in them which I don't think I would do anyway (like Atkin's bread - even for phase 1).

Glad you did well with Netrition. Can't say I did. They're the ONLY site I've come across who ship to every far flung, little known, corner of the globe... but not Italy. Grrrrrrrrr. I emailed them asking why and was told that they refused to ship there because of customs difficulties with Italy.

Well, it's true... Italian customs are a real bore, but every other site deals with them without complaint. I crossed Netrition off my list.

Bummer about Italy!! Of course I'd love to go there (on a total side note) my FIL was born in Rome and we apparently still have relatives over there. *I think it's hard not to with a last name like Sacco*

Yep... Sacco is a good Italian name! You'd love it here for sure... but if you do come, be sure to bring the "pasta/pizza" goggles!!! Better not to see to avoid temptation... and there's loads of other great Atkins friendly stuff.

                    Please read the lables

I just have to back up what Evermid posted because I really don't want people who are new to Atkins to read this post and think that the Atkins products of now are for Induction...or "Phase I" that the new Atkins product companies are calling this way of eating for life.

Baking mix is NOT for Induction...no matter how small of an amount. I suggest pop it in the freezer for later on in the OWL rungs

Please read the labels on your products and see where they follow on the OWL rungs of Atkins.

There's a true reason behind following Induction to the letter with Atkins as a way of eating for life: it's a time to rid your body of all the toxins in it, break habits, and lose weight. OWL...on going weight loss, is a time for finding your carb level while introducing foods back into your daily diet that will help you not only burn fat as fuel, but give you energy as well.

I'm glad there's options out there for low carbers, but we also have to very cautious when we're making choices as we're following this plan as a way of eating and living for life

                    Cheers!

                      Re: Admiration for Netrition

Tks for saying this Apple. You're totally right... baking mix and induction don't "mix"!

These online shops are useful for whatever they have that is legal for your current phase of Atkins. I remember that I wanted Splenda and Da Vinci syrups way back then.

Over the years I've ordered (from the UK), lots of LC stuff... but most of it ends up sitting on my shelf unused. At the end of the day, with a few exceptions, fresh and un-processed foods are truly the best... and easily available too.

Newbies beware... you need to pick and choose carefully.
