  • Great News!!

Hi everyone. As some of you know I have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalagia. Well i have been trying to get on SSI for 2 years now. Had to go before a judge in July 07 and just got my approval letter yesterday. Its says "fully Favorable!!" But didn't check the mail til today cuz I live in a rual area my mailbox is down our long driveway and I can't walk to it...so i had to wait til i got my car back.. Anyhow I am giving God all the glory for doing this for me!! This is huge for me, because I didn't have enough work credits to try for disability, because i was a stay at home Mom. So i had to go for SSI, which pays less but it's ok I just needed something to pay bills with and to rest assured I would have some income to pay bills and other stuff. Anyhow I am very, very happy and wanted to let you all know!! SSI is hard to get on, so this is big, really BIG!! Thank you LORD!! Hugs to all Cheryl~

    Re: Great News!!

God Is So Good!!! you have been truly blessed Cheryl...! my son was Diagnosed with Lupus back in 2002 (when he was 18)and it took till 2006 for him to get approved for SSI... i almost lost him twice before that happened and we have huge hospital bills to pay now, but at least he gets his 'tiny check' every month and Medi-Care pays for his Hospital & Medication bills now... He just turned 24yrs old Yesterday! and the lord has blessed him with the Knowledge and Understanding to Control his Illness now... I hope this will make your life a little easier now! KEEP YOUR HEAD TO THE SKY!!!

What wonderful news! Congratulations. You're right about it being hard to get on there. I know some people who truly need to be on it but were turned down.

Congrats as well on your ten pound loss. That can't be easy with both RA and Fibromyalgia. You are doing so well.

I just need to be one of those people
who do this the right way.

(This is just my first goal. I got lots more to lose.)

        Re: Great News!!

Thank you both, Promise & Mothette!!! Yes this tiny check will help me to at least keep the electric bill, propane and phone paid!! I am soooo sorry about your son Promise bless your heart and his...I was dx with the RA and i was 35(had it since I was 5 and got
Rheumatic Fever but didn't know it til I was 35), but i cannot imagine getting Lupus at his age. And I know a lot of children who get Jr RA, but it just hearts my heart for them. I know how hard this disease is with me being 35..I will keep you both in prayers sweety!! My Rheumatoligist, who is the greatest doctor alive i think....Anyhow he says that Lupus and RA are cousins. My RA has already started to attack my teeth and gums, my eyes, and my intestines, but with my chemo med Methotrexate, and the study drug I am on it helps to keep it under control. My Doctor is a big guy on drug studies and has a research department as part of his huge office. and this study i am on right now is working really good and I will be on it til it gets FDA Approval. So i am a guinny pig..but I am hoping for a cure so I will do anything to find that cure. Anyhow i wish it were not soooo hard to get on it.. And you will automaticaily be turned down the first two times you apply, that's how they weed out people. So after I got my first denial I got a lawyer who deals in SSI cases and only gets paid if i get paid..So he filled the next one and it was turned down of course and then applied for a hearing before the judge.. All that took two years.. And he said a lot of it is the wording your doctor uses. And he said all of my doc's said everything right. Anyhow please tell them to keep trying sweety and be sure to tell them not to start over but you have to appeal, because they will go by the date you first applied, unless you start over then they will go to the newest date you filed. Because that will determine how big your back pay check will be cuz they will go back to the date of your applying..do you understand what I mean?? If not let me know and I will try again.. I have a hard time finding the right words to explain stuff sometimes..lol..but i;ll keep trying ok.. thanks to you both!! Hugs Cheryl~
