Because every so often I get paranoid about my picture being posted on the internet. I take it up and down, and up and down. I don't have access to photobucket from work anymore to send a picture to you. I might have to email myself one from home and forward it to you sometime. I'll try to remember. It hasn't been super long since the last time I took it down. Richt used to have my picture in his avatar, but he don't love me no mo so he took it down.

      Shame on Richt.
He's actually someone who I think looks exactly like one might expect him to. Julirama and Discolemonade, too.

Atkins is so amazing. Eat fat, get full, stay full, eat less = weight loss. Finally, a lifestyle plan that's so darned easy.

          I completely agree.

Since I started Atkins, I looked at the Weight Watchers diet programme, because, I knew a question about WW would come up sooner or later, and I wanted to be able to talk intelligently about WW when the discussion came up.

The WW programme is not for me, either. Like Disco said, it's too slow. I'd be cheating, a little here, a little there. I love that the Atkins ketosis is a binary condition. You are or you aren't. You have to manage the food you eat, and drink, and if you make a mistake, you have to recover quickly.

I can also see that WW has been around for a while, so the diet does contain a X-factor that separates it from a fad diet. I do applaud that.

You are soooo bad! It would serve you right if she had snatched your delicious food right out of your hand! I would be like, "skim milk, heavy cream, skim milk, heavy cream???" Gimme your coffee! Now!

I did WW by the book many years ago, when I wasn't much overweight, and after four weeks with no cheats, I had gained two pounds. Not for me.

LOL Titian. My mom was over the other day and noticing I had lost weight and then commented on this and that and the other thing she was doing to lose some weight. I pointed to the Atkins book on my coffee table and said "take it with you". She says, "Oh no that's okay I've got all the weight watcher info."

...which she's had for 20 or 30 years... heh

              • Free Weights M, W, F 40 minutes
              • Cardio T, Th, S 90 minutes
              • Average Intake=1300-1400 Average Expenditure=3200
              • Low sodium (attempting - it's really tricky!)
              • Grazing Approach
              • Use of vitamins and whey protein isolate

My inlaws have arrived, and I am just waiting for any comment. So far, nothing, but we haven't seen each other much as I have been at work. I am almost 15 pounds lighter than I was when they visited this summer, (and were the impetus for my starting Atkins). She's overweight, and he's weight-obsessed. I am walking on glass, but in a way I hope that someone says something.

Keep your cool, take a deep breath and stay in control. You are doing this for you, not them. You are not your weight or body size. You are the intelligent, beautiful, kind and supportive person inside your body.

                      Re: Nyah, nyah, nyah!!!

My parents did WW back in the day, and they also did "Fatkins" (fake Atkins) when it became trendy in 2003. So of course, they had misconceptions about Atkins. When they saw me in May (after not seeing me since the previous September!) they were SHOCKED. In that time I'd lost 80 pounds, and looked like a totally different person. They asked how I did it, and I smiled and said, "Atkins. The RIGHT way." They started arguing that I was killing myself, that I must be so unhealthy because of all that fat, yadda yadda yadda. But, over the course of their visit, they SAW what I ate, because they ate it too (my boyfriend and I cooked all the meals except one), they saw that I was active and went to the gym. They saw my clear skin and shiny hair. Do you know what they noticed the most? How happy and mellow I was! Sugar makes me a raving b**ch.

So, in a matter of 3 days, they went from denouncing me, to asking me for advice! I realize that they won't follow Atkins, but I gave them suggestions based on Atkins principles (like eating natural peanut butter instead of Jif, eating whole grain bread instead of white, salad ideas, white flour alternatives, etc.) that they can use in everyday life.

Generally my doing Atkins is met with a lot more acceptance than a lot of the folks who post. I am lucky in that respect.

One of my girlfriends here is on weightwatchers. She has nothing against Atkins, but says she could never do it herself.

                        This morning we compared breakfasts.
She had a large bowl of cardboard-bran-type cereal, with skim milk, and coffee, again, with skim milk. She was a little grumpy, was moving on to coffee #2 and thinking about lunch.

I had a scrambled egg in butter with Boursin cheese crumbled in, a slice of Arnold flax fiber bread toast with foie gras spread on it, and tea with heavy cream. I am not hungry.

                        I have lost more weight.

I'll take your way any day!
