  • Things I have stopped keeping in the house...

Ok, so obviously the ready-to-bake biscuits are no longer here, and my husband is forbidden to make tuna casserole, but there were also some surprising things that I simply had to stop allowing in my house since doing Atkins:

    Madacamia nuts or cashews
    Diet coke
    Sugar Free Oatmeal cookies
Russell Stover: sugar free toffee bars & peanut butter cups
    Atkins Endulge bars

Cannot control usage of these items to save my life. They are banned. Stoopid cookies.

      Peanut butter
      cheese
      fruit

Cannot control how much I eat. I used to hide it from myself, and that worked for quite a while, then the carb monsters got the best of me! Out of sight, out of mind no longer worked! Doggone it!

Wow, there are so many things that I honestly won't be able to even let in my house for the rest of my life. So many things that I can't mention them here... not enough room... no wonder I got as fat as I am lol

i have kids so a lot of the above mentioned does come in - including chocolate spread..however i am able to stay away from and mostly control it. My problem is low carb treats. I cant make muffins (cant stop at 1), bark, or anything like that . i also had to stop making the molten choc cake....i do have an addictive personality i've realised and also an issue with portion control -esp when i make something for some reason. If it was ready made and wrapped up or in packaging i seem to able to stop at one...but myown cooking....(not saying i'm a terrific cook btw...no really - i suck... it must just be the whole process of making it ...i do the same with no sweet foods that i've cooked too -probaly a 'dont waste any food' mentality that when OTT)

Thank you for the laugh this morning Southern Gal!

I did mean food. Actually, foods that I thought I could have around during Atkins, but realized some time into it that we cannot cohabitate in a civilized manner and they had to go.

I shouldn't ask, but how did the LC ice cream taste? When my stomach was giving me so much trouble I wanted something like that to soothe it, but worried it was a slippery slope. If it's good, I may want to keep it on hand for emergencies.

here is the recipe off another board: i use 85% chocolate and only 2 squares, also i cant get davinci syrup so i use vanilla essence and sometimes orange essence.I top it with thick (heavy cream) bfore eating straight out of the cup! tooo delish for words....it comes out around 5.5 carbs as per the original recipe - i guess it depends on what tweaks u make

I found a Molten Chocolate Cake recipe and made it low carb. I can't believe it has so few ingredients and yet is so delicious. You could even serve this to company. I converted this into one easy to make serving.

                              1 tsp. butter
3 squares Lindt Chocolate bar (75% cocoa)
                              1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. Davinci vanilla sugarfree syrup

Melt butter and chocolate in a large mug for approx. one minute in the microwave. Add one egg and vanilla syrup. Stir vigorously with a fork. Microwave the mixture for one minute. I like to eat this straight out of the mug, but if you want to serve this to company you could run a knife around the edge and turn it upside down, lifting it out onto a plate. Dust with powdered Stevia if desired.
