  • Ooohhh Sometimes Its So Hard To Be So Good

Last night was my best friends Halloween Party and it followed Trick-or-Treating in our town. It was so hard to inspect the candy and not pick up one of my favorites and eat it. Well I knew she was making Chili at her house for her party so my husband and I went out to eat before we went to her party and each of us had the Salad Bar. It wasn't much but it was enough to make sure I was not starving when I went to her 'fete'. Oddly enough it worked. I don't think the chili was legal technically but to save her feelings I ate a small bowl full. (about one ladle full). I topped it with the cheddar cheese too. I may have gone over a bit in my carbs but I guess thats okay. Its so hard to estimate it when you don't actually do the cooking. Anyway... today is a new day and its started off great. Hang in there everyone through the holiday season!

I, too, went to a Halloween party last night, and I think we did basically the same thing: ate before going and picked out low-carb foods there to nosh on.

Because I'm still on extended Induction, I don't crave any of the goodies I see before me. That "sugar craving" switch is turned off. I had a hearty lunch yesterday (a dozen hot chicken wings) and a light dinner before going to the party (low-carb wrap with mayo, ham and cheese). At the party I ate a few cubes of cheese and practically the whole bowl of fresh strawberries (my daughter was fighting me for those!).

The Sugar Season is coming for all of us (that's what I call it, Halloween through Easter). If we plan ahead, we can avoid all the obstacles that sugar puts in our way and come out of the Sugar Season happier and healthier!

Are strawberries are legal for the induction or extended induction. Did you check? I don't even touch fruits yet because they are loaded with sugars. Albeit natural sugars but I think they don't even have a good fiber content. i'll have to check. Good job in eating light before going to the party though.

Nope, no strawberries on induction, and even on OWL only very small portions. I am not aware of any low-carb wrap that is legal on induction either - well, except a lettuce leaf!!

I think that be best way of preparing for the "Sugar Season" is making a steady climb up the OWL ladder - if your diet is not so restricted and you have a wider choice of food, you are far less likely to succumb to temptation. If all around you are tucking into chocolates, a stick of celery and some cream chesse just isn't gonna cut it, but some nice nuts, or a bowl of mixed berries might.

I'm glad I wasn't wrong! I'm always scared to come right out and say that someone is doing something wrong because I know how it feels to be on the other side of that. its my opionion though that this diet will not work unless you follow it correctly... read the book... good luck everyone!
