  • November 1st weigh in! And I joined a Gym

hi everyone! Happy November. Thank god Halloween is over now I just have to throw out alll that Darn candy.. I haven't been on in a while I've been so busy with life, and more life. But I thought I'd pop on here to tell everyone that I met my goal for Nov. 1st. I don't know how often I'll be able to say that I meet the goal every month seeing as they are pretty ambitious but I can easily say I have this month.

With winter coming and knowing that my workout is about to be seriously challenged (people in my town don't like to shovel their sidewalks, and I wont walk in the street or up to my knees in snow) I joined a gym. Its a smaller gym and its quite a distance away but the price is good and they have free child care. That in itself is worth the pittance they charge. I told my husband it's not a large as the last gym I belonged to but it has every piece of equipment I need to tone and some equipment I don't even know how to use. Some of them look like torture machines.

Anyway I hope that with joining the gym and getting three free personal training sessions I'll be able to shed more pounds and tone up. This may stall my weight loss because I'll be gaining muscle mass and toning up but hopefully, (pray for me) it will not halt the weight loss all together.

Good luck everyone on your goals. I hope everyone has success like I've had.

When I first began at the gym I was doing only cardio on the elliptical. I started out taking 30 minutes to do one mile - now I do 3 miles in 30 minutes! Anyway, I was losing between 2 and 3 pounds per week. Now, I add weights in with my cardio every other day and I'm still at that 2 to 3 pounds per week and my lifting sessions are very involved. I do 2 miles of cardio and usually 30 to 40 minutes of lifting. Like most here, I still have some weeks where I don't lose a single pound, but I average 2 to 3.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I didn't notice a weight loss dropoff when I began incorporating lifting and I feel even better with the muscle soreness. Makes me want to get up and go each morning.
