Okay... I cheated. Its the first time I ever did and now I feel terrible. I've been on this diet since September 1st and have gone this long without a weak moment but today my friend ate a reeses peanut butter cup from my house and I was haunted by it all day long. Plus I've had a headache all day long and I've felt run down for two days now. I've been going to the gym 5 days a week for the last week and a half and working hard. God I'm so stupid.

So what do you do when you have a bad day and give in.

Re: So what do you do when you have a bad day and give in.
Ok...the first thing I don't do is feel bad about myself for doing it. I read on another post once that the poster doesn't consider it "cheating", but "eating off of the diet."
Here's what I do. Drink a lot of water. Don't turn it into an all day binge just because "the day is now ruined." I already exercise every morning before work, so I don't do anything different with exercise.
Most importantly, I just keep going right back on this WOE at my next meal. I know that I'm not going to gain back the 30 pounds I lost in the one meal I just ate, but I also don't want to slow myself down anymore than I just did. It's possible that you won't notice any change in your weight loss/measurements, but it's also possible that you will.
We just had an unexpected death in our immediate family, and being the emotional eater that I am, my wife and I had junk food for lunch. I knew I shouldn't have it, but for dinner, I was right back on my normal eating with a steak and large salad.

Shari, what you do it get RIGHT back to it. Don't use a cheat (or going off plan) as an excuse and say, "well, as long as I ate _____, I might as well eat ______." Drink lots of water... get in some extra exercise.
Don't beat yourself up, but you're right not to "excuse" it either. We're all human, and most of us have had a slip or two (or more). So, it happens... however, what you do AFTER it happens is what's most important.
Hang in there!

You might have some cravings, but they won't last long if you jump right back on. It's too late to do anything about what you already ate, so look ahead to getting right back on track. You've done too well to let a little bump in the road turn into a complete detour. Just learn from your slip.
Just so you know, I am on here posting so I won't eat. My life is in complete turmoil and it's really starting to get to me. What I just said to you, I am saying to me, as well. I always ask myself, "What, if anything, will be better if I eat_____?" My answer is always, "Nothing!"
