  • Fiber?

I really need to get some fiber today. I haven't had anything happen now for 4 days. I feel kind of bloated today and I'm up 2 pounds. I can't do flax because it seems to have the opposite affect on me. I've been having spinach and cauliflower for veggies the last few day. What are foods that have allot of fiber in them. I'm on rung 4.
    Thanks so much,

    Susan

Metamucil fiber caps at bedtime with a lot of water? I do that every night.

      Re: Fiber?

Spinach and cauliflower have about 2 grams fiber per 1/2 cup.

Are you drinking enough water? If you take the "bulk forming" laxatives like flax, psyllium and wheat bran, you need to drink those 64 ounces of water and a some more. Otherwise, the fiber will kinda act like cement.

I haven't done flax in quite a while cause it didn't seem to work. I would rather get fiber from food then having to pop another pill. I'm drinking about 120 ounces of water a day.

Avocado, broccoli, cabbage, sprouts and eggplant are all quite high fibre and good for moving things along. For me at least rhubarb is VERY effective!!

I have heard from other people that suggest taking a magnesium supplement at night "keeps things moving". This is if you don't mind another pill, of course!

I love spinach, cooked and drizzled with some olive oil, good for the tummy. Always "helps" me, too! I have been using Stevia w/ fiber as a sweetener and it is supposed to be a good source of fiber.

Pumpkin and/or Jicama works for me. Lots of fiber in both.

I like to fry a couple of pieces of bacon and then fry the spinach in the bacon grease and bacon. Yummy. I also use stevia quite a bit. So much better for you then splenda.

Spinach works for me, but what works the best for me is a cup of coffee.

another thought - I was finding things pretty slow moving . Then I FINALLY found a mutil vitamin that had no added Iron ..I changed to that and things have been good ever since . Is your multi vitamin Iron free? if it is .. then maybe you are getting too much iron in your diet?

I prefer my fiber in foods, and I have found just one bread product that helps me... lo-carb tortillas. I use one a day (at lunch usually) and make a wrap with salad, ham and cheese (and mayo). One large tortilla has a whopping 14 grams of fiber and a net 5g. carbs. It's my one bread indulgence, and believe me, one a day (plus the coffee I drink in the morning) keeps me quite regular!
