I am on ebay right now and am wondering which atkins book to get. I have not had one up until now but I want to move on to OWL and don't really know what that consists of. I want to get the book and there are a couple of them out there. There is Atkins Diet Revolution and then there is Atkins New Diet Revolution. Are they both the same or is the new one better? Thanks in advance...

Re: Quick question about the book...
The forum uses the edition published in 2002, which is called Do Atkin's New Diet Revolution. The later edition, published after Dr A's death, is apparantly a fair bit different, though I have not read it so can't be any more specific than that.Kate

Re: Quick question about the book...
I don't know much about the older version other then that basically for the 1st 2 weeks its almost 0 carbs instead of 20...then you slower get up to 20. Also you count carbs, not the net carbs like we do in DANDR.
Hopefully someone else knows more.

Re: Quick question about the book...
There is an excellent run down of the ladder and how to climb it here.
The purpose of OWL, apart from ongoing weight loss obviously, is for you to establish what you can and cannot eat and how much you can eat. Climbing it according to the book is essential, as is doing a clean induction first.
I mention this Christopher not to be picky, but because according to your posts you have been a little bit easy going and loose about following the plan during your induction - a fairly big cheat, quite a lot of foods that are not allowed on induction etc. You really will be doing yourself a huge favour if you first do 2 weeks of totally clean induction and then climb the OWL ladder in a step by step systematic fashion, as the book outlines.Kate

Re: Quick question about the book...
Thank you Kate for the link. I understand more about what I need to do next. I have been on induction now for three weeks and am thinking that I need to start with the vegetable rung. I was thinking about extended induction but I am not sure. Thanks everyone for your advice on the book. I will be on the lookout for a nonexpensive copy just to be able to read it.

Re: Quick question about the book...
I'd recommend moving on at least to the first rung of OWL - the extra veggies will not only keep you more satisfied and allow for more variety each day, it tends to be good for weight loss also. You can stay at each rung of OWL as long as you like, so the pace at which you climb the ladder is up to you.Kate

Re: Quick question about the book...
I noticed on Ebay when I went to buy mine, they have lots of 1997 and 2001. 2002 is scarce, and then there are quite a few 2003. you guys must have almost wiped them out of 2002s
BTW, if you buy one on Ebay, make sure they use something besides Media Mail.....I'm STILL waiting for mine.
