is that a good sign or a bad sign??? I read that you're supposed to drink water to flush out ketones, I know I am not drinking as much water as I should, is this bad for my health? I also know that you burn ketones through exercise, I haven't exercised at all this week either.
Any information will be helpful!!

It could very well mean you are dehydrated. You really do need to drink a LOT of water - 64 oz is very much a minimum. Being dehydrated makes you not only feel bad, but causes your body to start retaining water.Kate

Yep, water is probably your culprit. Drink at least 64oz plus 8 more ounces for each 25 pounds you want to lose. Also sometimes if you eat higher fat the day before, your keto sticks will measure darker as well. But if you are hydrated enough you should almost never register the rally dark purple.Jim

This is interesting...I am getting the darkest colour on the Ketosticks as well. I have been for at least 4 days I'd guess.
I am drinking plenty of water (16 glasses a day) and am exercising everynight. I lost 15 of my 80 pounds during induction and am on day 3 of week 3 right now. I am getting in my veggies though salad, cucumber, mushrooms, green onions, brocolli and cauliflower. Outside of that I'm eating eggs, chicken, beef (roast or steak), Ceasar dressing, cheese (not over 3oz. per day) and a bit of bacon.
Is this really something to be concerned about? I never thought anything of it other than I was doing a really good job at this
now I'm not so sure!

If you're drinking that much water don't worry about it...

I always thought that the dark purple keto stix was a good sign until I read some of the things on here and then I wasn't sure.....I guess as long as you're doing the water and exercise, it is a good sign!!! Didn't mean to you worry Tiggs!!!! You're doing great!!

8 years ago when a close friend and I did Atkins together we followed the very same meal plans in face took turns making menus that we both followed. We excercised together too so it was almost identical circumstances ......... we both got Keto sticks and she almost any time of day would get the darkest purple color almost black and I would barely register on them ........ I knew by how I felt that I was in ketosis but it just rarely showed on them for me. I know she wasn't dehydrated because she drank more water then I ever dreamed of drinking ....... but I think some people just do that. Our bodies are all unique and I think we all process things different ways ...... I have learned that if I do a very active work out and then wait about 30 minutes and then try one I can actually see a little bit of color change now and then
All this to say they are a good tool but not the bottom line and if you are following the plan like your supposed to and drinking enough then I wouldn't worry about the color of the stick. Besides there darn expensive!
