Ok, so I thought I was doing really good on Atkin's until I read that you cannot have salsa on it. I did get a brand that did not have sugar in the ingredients even though it still has natural sugar from the tomatoes. I have been eating this on my hamburgers with cheese. I have eaten it 'probably three days in a row and am wondering if I should restart my induction. I was getting ready to move on to the vegetable rung after finishing my induction the wednesday before last but should I restart just to play it safe? Other than this I don't think that I have cheated at all. I have been trying really hard. I read somewhere where you cannot have heavy cream on induction. Is this true? I have been eating it for the past week because I thought that it was acceptable. Thanks in advance.

Re: Do I need to start induction again?
I'm no expert but no I don't think you have to restart induction. You should lose 10-15% of your weight to lose in induction. You've done that.
Heavy Cream is allowed but you need to count the carbs and limit it to 1 oz. from what I've read.
Congratulations on your weight loss! I started October 29th so I'm just behind you.

Re: Do I need to start induction again?
Thanks Tiggs14. I was hoping that I would not have to start induction again. I have decided to cut out the salsa just to play it safe and I am going to lower the amount of heavy cream that I use (not that I am using a lot right now as it is. I have used it 2 days in a row and have noticed that my weight is staying the same. Congratulations on your weight loss! I wish mine would come off as fast as yours has so far. I am hoping for a whoosh sometime soon.

Re: Do I need to start induction again?
Where did you hear that you can't have salsa?
True, all salsas are not created equal, but barring added sugars and illegal ingredients, they ARE legal. I make my own salsa using onion, garlic, tomato, anaheim and jalapeno peppers, garlic salt, cilantro, and lime juice, all of which are LEGAL on induction. Many store-brand salsas are also legal, as the ingredients are usually veggies on the induction list. Check ingredients and make sure the salsa contains no added starches, sugars or fillers.
Since salsa is made from veggies, it DOES count toward your daily veggie allowance. To be safe, you'd have to count it as an "other" veggie (because of the tomatoes and onions), but technically, you could be eating up to a cup of salsa per day! That's not to say that you should make salsa your "other" veggie choice everyday...but if you choose to eat it on burgers or with salad, go for it!START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170

Re: Do I need to start induction again?
I have been reading a bunch of different posts and on one of them (don't know which one exactly) I saw no salsa and no pickles because of the high sodium and sugars usually found in them. Thanks for clarifying for me though. I really like salsa with my scrambled eggs or with my hamburgers. Thanks guys for getting back to me about it. I tend to worry myself a lot.

Re: Do I need to start induction again?
Ahhh, I see! Yes, store-bought stuff can have a lot of added sodium, but salsa is SOOOOOOOOOOO easy (and tasty) to make yourself that there's no excuse not to make it from scratch!
There are a lot of foods on Atkins that aren't illegal, just frowned upon in high quantities because they are processed or have lots of sodium, like pickles, bacon, sausage, pepperoni, deli meats, etc. Lots of sodium can lead to water retention. It's a "your mileage may very" type of thing.START 8/16/06 @ 270+~MG1: 220-12/2/06~MG2: 210-1/07~MG3: 199-3/2/07~MG4: 190-4/27/07~MG5: 180-7/04/07~GOAL: 170
