Re: diarrhea?!?
I just let my body fix it. I drink lots of water and *maybe* some chicken broth, if I can stomach it; otherwise, I just don't eat. If I ate it would never ever stop.

Re: diarrhea?!?
Your body should settle down after a while... sometimes the extra fats can cause this. Make sure you drink masses of water as diarrhoea can be very dehydrating. If it goes on too long though, I'd go see your doc... it might be a bug and not Atkins related. Before and after:

Re: diarrhea?!?
Oh...that's bad. Have you tried a liquid diet? I don't know what to tell you.
Fat can do that to you, but also if you've increased your fiber content. It can mess with your system, but it eventually regulates itself. Have you taken any immodium? If it's been several days, I would say it's time to pull out the D pills. But I don't know if they contain sugar or anything like that....Good luck to you

Re: diarrhea?!?
Are you confusing diarrhea and constipation? Fiber is good to get the bowels going, and usually people get bound up when in induction as the fiber is so low. Meats and cheeses do not contain dietary fiber. "The Runs" occurr when there's too much water going into the body and often the colon doesn't know what to make of it. So the water releases with some food. Maybe the OP is drinking too much fluids with food, or has, like someone suggested, a "bug" from a food item. Runs lasting more than 24 hours IMO should be investigated. I get occasional constipation from OWL and take fibre sure.Originally posted by Serafoods that have a high fiber content should help a little...thats what my doctor said when I had trouble like that at the beginning of atkins anyway.

Re: diarrhea?!?
no, im not confusing that lol...quite the difference there.
but as I said my doc told me to eat foods with a high fiber content when i had similar problems as fibres REGULATE this kinda stuff and what can I say, it helped.
he might have a totally different problem, we are not doctors so everyone here is just guessing.

Re: diarrhea?!?
But Sera, doesn't that take time for most people? I remember my gastro telling me to up my fiber, but that I would feel bloated and would probably continue to be sick for a bit more.
If he's had D for several days he could be really dehydrated by now. Maybe take immodium and THEN up your fiber like Sera said. Are you doing any better today?
By the way, I think it's so funny how people have different names D. lol
Recently I read or heard someone call it "the spurts" and now I've learned "the trots."

Re: diarrhea?!?
well yes, it does...eating more fibres doesnt solve the problem within a few hours but lets be honest if he's had it that bad for days now, a visit to the doctor should be the only advice because it could just as well be something more serious than just adjustment to the new way of eating.

Re: diarrhea?!?
Well your going to laugh at this one Trots, in our family its called a 'bottom explosion' !!
I have had this happen to me, and I finally pinned it down to eating excessive amounts of spinach! MY stomach revolted big time.
If you have diarrohea for more than 48hrs, you should be going to see your doctor.
