If it's made with sugar then no. There are loads of recipes around this site for sugar free pumkin pie... I made one and it is awesome! Think I'll go have a slice right now!

NO! "Real" pumpkin pie is usually made with sugar and evaporated or condensed milk. The carb content will be through the roof, regardless of if you eat the crust or not!

if it was purchased in the store....does that mean that, most likely, there was/is sugar in it?

Yup, you just ate a sugar bomb. I have on occasion seen pumpkin pies represented as "low carb" at stores, usually made with maltitol. Maltitol creates is its own kind of a bomb.

well, its freezing here in new jersey today so.....i will not be walking it off because, its just too cold out there. i will be doing my pushups tonight as i didnt do any this morning. so i am thinking, possibly, 75 or so then i will update it!!

i was thinking today about doing pushups, but balancing on a basketball or soccerball!! so i got a basketball out of the trunk of my car and.....even after all those pushups that i have done.....you know, i couldnt even do one!! well, maybe i can, it was a half-assed attempt that i made because i was at work in slacks and business shirt and tie.

but my ideas are flowing and i am getting on the scale come sunday, today has been a pretty good day so far....minus that little bit of pumpkin pie that i just had now.

              Re: pumpkin pie?!

You are right, Christopher, sometimes it gets confusing for newer Atkineers when they see others posting about dishes they have eaten, as we often forget to mention that the version we make is not the standard sugar/flour full one!

Never assume anything you buy will be OK without reading labels!!

So if you want to stay on-plan, always check the actual ingredients on any recipes or prepared shop-bought dishes to be sure all are 'legal' for whatever phase of Atkins you are at.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                    Re: pumpkin pie?!

Chris, I can see from many of your posts that you are a little unsure of what is and isn't allowed on Atkins, especially Atkins Induction Phase. If you don't have the book, get a copy now and read it. I cannot tell you the number of people who have failed miserably because they didn't bother to learn about the diet---especially what they can and cannot eat.

So do yourself a favor and get the book and read the book. You might also find it extremely helpful if you make copies of the Induction Acceptable Food list and the Rules of Induction: keeping one copy on the refrigerator door, another at your work desk and another on your person when you eat outside your home and/or buy food.

Don't fail at this diet because you believe it a waste of your time to learn about it, as so many other failures before you have done. ADBB is here to help you----it is not here to do the diet for you.

Here are the links to the Induction Acceptable Food List and the Rules of Induction that you can download and copy for reference, while you wait for your book to arrive.
