    Awww. Welcome back, Brian!!!! We missed you while you were gone. I'm glad that your back and ready to do this thing. Don't worry, we will be here for you whenever you need us. I was so worried about you the past few days. I prayed and I hoped that you were doing well. And look at you, Day 3 clean induction! You're doing a great job. =) Keep up the great work.

      Today, My mother bought that Pepperidge Farms CHOCOLATE CAKE!!!! OMG, (how tempting) but I said to myself I am sticking with this and nothing is going to make me stop not even that CHOCOLATE CAKE!!!! so yeah I did drink LOTS OF WATER and had a SUGAR-FREE JELLO (0 carbs) that stopped the craving- GOOD LUCK TO THOSE TEMPTATIONS!

        Great job on resisting the temptation Karlita! I'm proud of you for eating that sugar free jello instead of that evil chocolate cake. If you ever need anything, or anyone to vent to, I'm always here for you! =) I get motivated by motivating others? Isn't what weird? My hair straightener is calling me, so I gotta straighten my hair, be back in 10.

                Welcome back Brian! Get through a clean induction and you'll be on your way. I am finally at the point where my clothes are starting to be really loose and it is the best motivator. Keep strong!

                  Hi everyone,

                  Okay I am doing pretty good and I have went back down. But I am not losing like I want and I am sure it is the Coffee. Please tell me that I will be able to add the coffee back in later. PLEASE! I think I will be able to give it up if I am assured of that.

                    Coffee is a tough one for me as well.....Its a hard habit to break thats for sure Here is what the book says............Excessive caffeine may cause unstable blood sugar and should by avoided by those who suspect they are caffeine dependent. Everyone should try to avoid caffeine. Grain beverages (coffee substitutes) are not allowed.

                      I was reading Atkins last night and remember him talking about the effect coffee (caffeine) can have on your blood sugar. They key word there is "Can." For Induction and the begining of OWL when you are trying to aggressivly lose weight it would be your best bet to stay away from it. Maybe you can try and add coffee back one you have reached your OWL Carb equilibrim. Atkins has a name for it but it is basically the max number of carbs you can eat and still lose about a pound a week. (Please someone correct me if I am wrong!) So lets say that during OWL you figure the magic number is 30 carbs a day, you could then add the coffee under a controlled situation to determine if it does or does not effect your blood sugar and weight loss. I guess everyone is different though and maybe caffeine has no effect on you so who knows

                      I recently have given up cream which sucks because I really liked some of the muffins and snacks I was making with cream cheese. Hopefully I will be able to add them back later, so I kind of feel your pain.

                      Again, thanks for welcoming me back with open arms. I am finishing day 3 which I am excited about. I haven't felt Ketosis kick in yet, maybe tomorrow. (Thats what I said yesterday too!)

                      So Richard and Einy, any way you guys want to join me in the lose your love handles for valentines day challenge. I am probably not going to go all out and strip for the camera like some of the brave woman on there have. I was thinking about just putting on a shirt and a pair of jeans I used to fit in , take the picture and then on Valentines day take another picture of myself in those same clothes. Right now I am the only dude signed up and the deck is pretty stacked against me over there. A little manly help would be great. I think tomorrow will be the last day to sign up though.

                            Do you realize how frightening it was for me to post my pics on there....VERY! Never in my life have I shown pics like that, ever... -.- So you could do the same. -sticks out her tongue- Just kidding, you don't have to! =P

                            So, umm, tomorrow is going to be a long day. I have my ride along with the ambulance, so I won't be on til tomorrow night. I'll update you then. But I am 12 days cheat free!!! =)

                              Kristen, I am not sure how to describe Ketosis but I can tell that my body feels different. I would describe it as a very very low key tingling feeling. Unless you were looking for it you wouldn't notice it. The second this I develop a thirst that cannot be quenched. I woke up with both of those things this morning which is good as I feel like I am back on track. Atkins doesn't say what ketosis will feel like but to just pay attention to your body and it will tell you. Bekka, It took major guts to post your pics. The cool thing is that the before and after pic will just be that much more dramitic. I took my pics last night and will have them up sometime today.

                              So far today is going well for me. I am a touch nervous about the weekend as I won't be busy. Although If I can make it through I will be on day 7! What is everyones plan for the weekend?

                                * Caffeine can cause cravings or blood sugar spikes with some people. If you’re one of them, you should drink only decaffeinated beverages. If you don’t have a problem with caffeine, you may drink one or two caffeinated beverages a day, because evolving research indicates there may actually be health benefits to a limited amount of caffeine. However, if you have a true caffeine addiction, it will be best to break it during Induction, because any food addiction can cause problems if it isn’t taken care of. Once you’ve broken the addiction and moved on to OWL, you can carefully try adding caffeinated beverages back into your food intake, as long as it doesn’t trigger the addiction again.
