Re: Week of November 26 Atkinites =)

Pretty quiet in here today which is hopefully a good thing since there are no "sins" being confessed. I am really worried about making it through this weekend. It is cold, dark and snowy here which leads to a lot of inside time, which leads to tv time which leads to my favorite old pastime which is grubbing on Pizza, Ice cream and sunflower seeds (Not at the same time!) while watching a movie. I think I am going to try and do some alternate activities. I was thinking about going through some of my camping gear to make sure it is all good or I might try to go out to the range and do some shooting. I think I might try and use that as a reward for myself for completing a list of honey-do's even though the honey who makes me "do" is out of town right now.

Tomorrow is the first day of december which means I will get to start keeping track of my pushups again. I am not sure if I want to commit to situps yet...but maybe. Well here is to cheat free day 4 of 14!

Re: Week of November 26 Atkinites =)

      Hey guys! =)

God it feels nice to be home. Even though I had a great day, doing my ride along and all, it just feels so nice to be at home where I can wear comfy clothes and relax (for a lil bit, since I need to study). Today was really nice, I did my ride along and that was so much fun! =) I think I liked the ER much better since there is a lot of downtime when you work for an Ambulance and all. But, at least I got to take some vitals and actually change out an O2 tank. Sweetness. The guys I were with were oh so delicious, but shhhh, I kept my cool and I acted like me. I even got one of their emails, just for future reference and help, if I ever need it. =P

Did I commit any sins today? Heck no!!! I totally am cheatfree for 13 days. wOOt! Tomorrow will be day 14 and I do plan on weighing myself, just on Sunday, just to see how much I've lost for my 14 day clean induction. Then, it will be back to once a weeks on Wednesdays with you guys. =) As always.

So, I have 5 tests (more like a million) that I need to study for, one of them being tomorrow. Not looking forward to it. Ugh.

This weekend, well, class tomorrow and work on Sunday. I need to relax again, aaahhhh.

      Anyway, how are you guys?

Bekka, Great to hear that today is your 14th. Are you planning to move to OWL? I am sure enjoying it, rung 1 is not much different really from induction. The 5 carbs that you add may give u more choices though.

I started on my bike and put myself for December challenge to avoid slowing down my weight loss rate. Hope it works. Will see on Wednesday, but so far so good.

btw, I finally got my book. Cannot believe that it took 3 weeks to get it!! Well, anyway, will start reading it tonight.

Bekka! Fantastic job for making it 14 days cheat free! I know that you have not logged in yet today but I know that you made it, I can feel it. Einy poses a good question. What are you going to do about OWL? I have elected to stay on extended Induction until the holidays are through. On January 3rd ( A Wednesday I am thinking about moving to rung 1. Gosh that seems like a long ways. I am just so pumped about making it to day 5. If I can just make it to day 7 I will be finally hitting my stride.

I went for a really long walk today and climbed a few hills in my snowbooots. Wow, am I out of shape, I was spitting up blood by the time I got to the top. (Not like blood blood, but a tiny bit of blood in my spit from my throat do to breathing so hard in the cold weather.

I hope everyone is doing awesome. Does anyone have one of those muffin recipes without the cream cheese in them. I have looked a bit but most of the good ones require some sort of cream which I am abstaining from right now. I hope everyone has a good night!

Hey guys!! =) Happy day for me! I got 100 percent on my Lab Exam and well, it's day 14!!! you know what that means! I am definatly thinking about doing OWL. I still don't understand how it works all that much, but ya, I'll be adding 5 grams of carb of veggies to my system, since veggies didn't hurt anyone, now did they?

I weigh myself tomorrow, the only time I will do it before a week, just to see how much I have lost. =P

Can't wait. =) I'm going to kick my brother from the TV and watch myself my favorite movie ever, Pride and Prejudice. <3 Catch ya guys later. Oh and Brian, I am so proud of you! You can definatly do it.

            Always,

Bekka, try the following threads on OWL. You need to understand how it works before you start it. This is really important.

Re: Week of November 26 Atkinites =)

You all are doing soo good. I am so happy for everyone. I have issues. But I am working them out. I guess Caffine is not my friend either. It is like I moved my addiction from breads and sugar to caffine. So I will have my last cup tomorrow. My friend is on Weight Watchers .... I was on that before too, but only manage to lose 4 pounds at the most in 3-4 months. It was hard to stay with in my points and I was always hungry. With Atkins besides losing the weight fast or reasonable time, I am satisfied and I don't get hungry. I know that you all have been cheat free ... I can't boast that YET! but I have noticed that when I do go over the carb amount my body can handle I get really sluggish and bloated. It is soo weird and the next morning I wake up starving.

Well, my friend says that i can not lose 30 pounds by the end of december. I think if I stay in induction and don't cheat that it is possible.

Thank you all for your help with the coffee thing. I hear you and I am taking note.

Congrats Bekka on 14 days cheat free .. U Rock.

Re: Week of November 26 Atkinites =)

Thanks guys!! =) I think I understand OWL a bit more now. I start today, but I am going to be taking it real easy and make sure I don't go over my amount. I'll post a sample Menu of what I've eaten before, so I know how many carbs I can have a day. I did check my loss for the past few days and nothing. I won't let that discourage me because I know I have lost a few inches. I can see that in the mirror. Besides, I have Wednesday to check my loss, teehee. And the past two days have ben hard because of having a ride along (not eating until the evening...so that might have something to do with it, too... I don't know. ) Here's my normal typical day of what I eat.

                  Breakfast:

                  2 Eggs- 1 Carb
2 Ground Beef Patties- 0 Carbs
2 Romaine Lettuce Leafs- 1 Carb
                  2 T of Mayonaise- 1 Carb
                  2 T of Mustard- 1 Carb

                  Total- 6 Carbs

                  Lunch

1 Cup Cabbage Chopped- 3 Carbs
                  1/4 Cup Cucumber- 1 Carb
                  1 T Italian Dressing- 1 Carb
                  2 Slices Cheese- 1 Carb
                  2 Meat Patties- 0 Carbs

                  Snack

1 oz of cheese- 0 Carbs

                  Dinner-

1 Cup Romaine Lettuce- 1 Carb
                  1 T Italian Dressing- 1 Carb
                  1 chicken breast- 0 Carb

                  Total Alltogether....

                  About 15 Grams.

So, I suppose I will be eating 20 grams with the new veggies added in. =P

Wish me luck! And Fitday says 60 % fat, 5 percent Carb and 35 % Protein. Is that about right?

Bekka, your protein is too high which can lead to weight gain. Percentages should be 65/5/30 but I eat more like 70/5/25 and I am losing steadily.

It is so easy to have high protein numbers. That was one of my errors early on. I went to 70% fat and then I started having consistent losses. Congrats on staying cheat free for so long!

                              Hey gang,

snuck a peak at the scale this morning since it is day 7 of being cheat free and found that I have not lost any weight at all. It doesn't have anything to do with my menu as I am going by the book. I also gave up cream this week and that didn't help at all. So basically I am three week in, with only 2 cheats and have basically stayed at the same weight. About 3 years ago I did an Atkins style diet and lost a lot of weight right off the bat so I am not sure why this is not working. I am not giving up yet as being free from cravings is worth thr price of admission alone, for now. Any suggestions? I am going to try what Atkins suggessted and go to a Meat, Fowl, eggs and cheese only diet to see if that works. I have also suspected I may be struggling with Yeast. I tried the very unscienctific test of spitting in a glass of water to see if my spit grew legs. Well, it did big time and in fact the whole spit basically just sank to the bottom. So I may do some more research on that. Good luck to everyone this week.

                              Brian

                                Hey Brian,

Are you tracking your measurements? Maybe you have lost but it is not showing up on the scale yet.

Have you been "dieting" a lot in the past? The first time I did Atkins I lost faster and I wondered if I have started and stopped this so many times that my body was just going to wait me out as per usual.

Since I have stuck to it for three months with viritually no cheats this time I am finally starting to see the scale drop every couple of days.

I have taken the approach that the pounds will come off because I am eating really well, have a calorie deficit each day, and am experiencing no insulin spikes. Keep doing what you are doing and your body will catch up.
