  • If you haven't read Taubes' book...

The biggest criticism against Taubes' book "Good Calories, Bad Calories" is that it's very heavy reading. For those who have a hard time reading such books, you may want to keep an eye out for the documentary "Fat Head", billed as the "Anti-SuperSize Me" movie.

Two clips from the documentary sum up the first three chapters of Taubes' book quite nicely.

BTW, before people think that Tom Naughton just created a video version of "Good Calories, Bad Calories", he had this to say...

First off, as a former journalist and voracious reader (40-50 books per year, plus magazines, online articles, etc.) I would never suggest - and didn't - that anyone consider watching my film as a substitute for reading Gary Taubes' book. I began this project over a year ago, before I'd ever heard of his book, and I plowed through a dozen books and more articles than I'd care to count as part of my research. Read, people! Read, read, read!

Here is a webcast of a lecture given by Gary Taubes to the School of public health at UC Berkeley
              http://webcast.berkeley.edu/event_de...ebcastid=21216

I have only watched the first few minutes of it so far (It is about an hour and a half I think) but it looks interesting.

Thanks for posting that! Is this coming out soon, and where at (TV/theater/DVD?)? I'd love to see the whole thing.
The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast:
the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.

You can hear the whole thing at the link Elizellen provided - click on the little webcast icon on the top left of the page.

I just listened to the whole lecture - which is LONG, 1 hour 48 mins including some questions at the end. It is WELL worth listening too - even if some of it loses you along the way, it all comes together at the end.

                  Thanks for posting that Elizellen!
