  • HELP...Its been a struggle today

RRRR I am having a bad day to say the least and for some very odd reason I am having cravings. I REFUSE TO CHEAT!!! But it's been a struggle .. To top it off got on the scale and It hasnt budged since yesterday. Im only on week 2 of induction and just assumed it would keep going down those first 2 weeks. i have lost 8 so far and thats been my motivation to not cheat. I feel silly but its just one of those blah days. I wil say I still have a ton of energy and my underware (of all things) is fitting different... hope thats good

Cravings suck, don't they. Try to distinguish whether your body is really craving carbs or actually craving a nutrient.....or maybe a hug! Funny how food has come to be comfort to so many of us. When i get a craving now, and i get them more so that my first two journeys on Atkins, I pick up the phone and call a friend. Try it! and hang in there-you can do it!!

Thanks. I think you are right about the comfort factor. It still is hard to stay strong. But I did =) It started when I was making my kids lunch, oh the smell of checken nuggets and fries... But i oped for a atkins snack, then left the room til they were done, to avoid any further temptation!!!

Thanks so much for your encouragement!!!

Re: HELP...Its been a struggle today

I do not feed my kids anything different than I have. That seems to take care of me wanting stuff I cannot have. I do however keep animal crackers and cheese crackers and lots of fruit in the house. I've just learned to get a large glass of water when they are eating something I cannot have. But I do completley understand how hard it is to refrain from eating the junk!!

It gets easier... cravings are a part of it... and eventually they go away as your body detoxes and you feel yourself getting healthier...
Weight loss will definately slow, 1-2 lbs/week is healthy and good so don't get too hung up on what the scale says... Measure yourself now! It will keep you going to see loses on the tape measure when you have times when the scale isn't cooperating.
Good luck, and keep up the great work! water, water, water, vitamens, exersize, etc...

This tells me right there that you step on that scale too frequent. That could be part of it really. It is highly advisable to stay off the scale for a MINIMUM of one week.

I know how curious someone may get (I do), but try to make it a habit to step on that scale on a certain day of the week and once you do, remove it and keep it in a closet or somewhere where you don't run by it every now and then.

            I hope this helps..

Always make sure you have lot of 'legal' snacks on hand. I find that if my head has switched into craving mode, I can cope if there is something in the house that is legal to snack on. If there isnt, then im inclined to obsess about it until I can potentially get to big-blow-out stage!!

Maybe you can pick better food choices for your kids too that will be easier for you to make and stay on plan. It will be beneficial for all of you. My husband and stepdaughter mostly eat the same foods as me, but with one more side dish usually (something carby). I don't feel deprived at all. If i want to make them an easy lunch i'll make them sandwiches, but i'll only have the meat rolled up with cheese/crem cheese (now in maint I have whole grain/lc bread), hot dogs or burgers but mine will be bunless etc.

i find keeping the temptations away make it much easier, especially in the beginning.

I agree, if I'm allowed to butt in (if not, please ignore). My poor eating habits, using food as comfort, food as reward, eating heavy carbs, etc were all learned habits when I was a kid.
