"Restricting carbs keeps insulin levels low, which lowers your internal production of fat and allows more of the fat you do eat to be burned for energy."

I was trying to explain this the other day! and this says it so well...

Great article except that about 98% of that is straight from Taubes Book. Should the writer give him some credit?

Amazing that it is on MSNBC.

True... but it's also true that many others have said all this before Taubes or the author of this article. Not many people took notice of them though.

I enjoyed the article. All this can't be said enough, imho.
          Yay sat fats!

I don't have too much problem with that except that in a few paragraphs this article is word for word (or very close) to Taubes.

I went back and read it again. Much of it could be just the same information. And the last couple of paragraphs are clearly not Taubes. I guess I have started thinking Taubes ownes all that info. And when every piece of information in the first 3 pages was also in Taubes book the easy conclusion is that it came from Taubes.

I figure that they are probably working off the same information. Either way, to me the important part is that it is making it into the public consciousness a little. It takes years of repeatedly throwing information in the establishment's face before it starts to take notice, and doesn't dismiss it as a fad.

                Good article, thank you.
Seeing as a low carb diet has been around since at least the late 1800's, you would think that the scientific community might finally get some REAL answers, not half-arsed studies. Maybe with enough noise......

Anyway, it's nice to see it in the mainstream media

Gotcha. It could be, as TW says, they're working from the same sources.

Ironically, I've read a lot from Men's Health lately. I like their style and their topics.
