Re: Christmas Is 1 Week Away...Are You Going To Eat On Plan?

Let's seeeeee, Christmas dinner will be a nice ham along with cheesy scalloped baked radishes & mushrooms, fresh green beans w/onion & garlic, Mixed green tossed salad, cheese popovers and for dessert it will be Atkins cheese cake w/ blackberry sauce. Sparkling water. That works for me,

Re: Christmas Is 1 Week Away...Are You Going To Eat On Plan?

i am not planning to cheat

That's VERY different from "I am planning not to cheat"!

I am definitely staying on plan - ish! By which I mean I will NOT eat any illegal foods, but will almost certainly eat more high calorie legal things than I normally would.

This is the first time in 25 years or so that I have not made a christmas cake or a christmas pudding, or mince pies either come to that. So there will be none of those. Any chocolates we've been given have already been passed on, and that will continue.

Dinner will be meat and veg, with garlic roast turnip and radishes instead of potato. I managed to get xanthan gum to-day, so that means a nicely thickened gravy. No problems there. Since we have dinner at about 3pm on Christmas day, there will only be 2 meals that day instead of three, which helps. I've made and frozen some low carb "wholemeal" bread, which takes care of left-over turkey (open) sandwiches.

However....... I will move to the alcohol rung on Christmas Eve, so will have wine with dinner, and possibly a gin or something later. And I just finished making a ganache (using very low carb 85% cocoa solid chocolate) for home made chocolate truffles , which although legal are very high calorie. But I am allowing myself to have some of them.

My aim is not to necessarily lose weight over Christmas but positively and definitely not to gain any. On the 27th it's back to the veggie rung for a week to get myself back on track. That's the plan anyway.

Planning on staying legal... I did great at Thanksgiving, no reason I can't do the same for Christmas... unless of course I plan poorly... which I won't. I already have some pumpkin bread in the freezer!

My Thanksgiving dinner and leftovers couldn't have been better and every bite legal. I did a whole post with pictures in honor of just how good it was. I plan to do the same for Christmas and then do up party foods--legal of course, for New Year's! I created even more scrumptious recipes since Thanksgiving. For the most part I always remain within my limits...Christmas tends to be the one exception to my no sugar, no white flour rule as my grandmother makes Christmas Pudding every year and it's tradition that we all have a small bowl of the pudding with a shot of espresso. Seeing as how I'm 20 lbs under my goal and I got through it last year with no adverse effects, I will most likely keep the tradition alive.

Other than that I'll stick to my plan!

I will stay on plan. Everyday at work I am faced with a crazy amount of chocolates, gift baskets, and baking...and I haven't cheated once. Today we had a huge potluck and I stayed legal. It's just not worth it. I get more joy out of seeing the scale drop than eating the non-legal food.

Ooh I forgot to post a menu!

Since none of us are big ham fans, we'll be having a non-traditional menu. Here's the stuff I plan on eating:

                            steaks on the grill
                            butternut puree
                            fresh veggies and dip
                            cauliflower bake
                            shrimp cocktail
                            cheese and salami
                            spinach salad
"apple" crisp (I'm going to expirement and make this with chayote squash!)
                            soy flour brownies

The others will be eating homemade breads, cookies, pie, and chocolate covered cherries (all made by ME) but I won't even be tempted because of all the delicious stuff I will be having.

This was a good idea to post JerseyGyrl. We [i]decide[i/] to stay on plan, instead of just knowing we should.

Me, I'm bringing tons of food with me to my parents. I haven't seen them in a few weeks so it would be really neat if they noticed a difference in me. With that thought, I hope I have no trouble staying with the plan.

I'll be doing a non traditional meal; Christmas Eve it's just me and hubby; we'll have surf and turf-filet mignons and lobster tails- lots of legal veggies with a baked potato for hubby, and an atkins friendly pecan-carmel cheesecake for dessert. Christmas day the kids will stop by for their yearly payoff and we'll have a spread of shrimp cocktail, a cheese and veggie tray with dips and crackers for the kids, and a finger tray of buffalo wings, sesame wings, coconut crusted scallops, terryaki beef strips and bbq'd pork ribs.
