Sheesh! It's getting so hard to find anything healthy to eat these days! Man has messed around with everything... but then, if he hadn't there probably wouldn't be enough to feed us all. A lose lose situation.

One of the many reasons DH and I purchase pasture raised grass- fed beef, pork, chicken and lamb(goat too, but it's hard to find) . We really need to stop screwing with our food!

It's the reason we raise our food No messing around with nature! Granted the food costs more - but if you can find the farms to help supply you it's well worth it

BTW - chick - we are having leg of goat tonight - awesome food!! We were scared to try it but now it's one of our favorites to the point my husband is agreeing to let me add a few to the farm this year on top of my kids 4-H project ones!!!

I'd love to raise all my own....we do have the space.....but I am a big WIMP when it comes to salughtering, and there is no one who does poultry processing in these parts. We raised our own pork a couple of years ago and the flavor difference was AMAZING.
The fatty acid analysis done by the Iowa University on grass fed versus "factory farm" fed is astounding. No wonder the food tastes better!

Re: Bad fats in turkey and chicken

The sad thing is that even what are described as 'whole natural foods' are not natural anymore. They are genetically modified, growth promoted, fertilized, irradiated, surface treated and who know what else.

Of course we are told that all of these things have been well researched and are perfectly safe and in no way harmful, by the very same people who for years have been telling us that it is a well researched fact that to lose weight you must eat low fat and have lots of starchy carbs, and that sugar is fine really, just, you know, be a bit moderate.

That would fill you full of confidence that they are right this time round too, wouldn't it????

They are the same people who had us eating margarine for years cause it was safer than butter. Uh huh.
