  • Celiac diet?

Preparing for our upcoming trip to Disney, I called today to make sure our dinning reservations listed our diet restrictions. The lady I spoke with asked if I was eating a celiac diet. I have never heard of this and though prehaps some of you might know what it is.

On a side note, Disney is great with preparing food for special diets. We went in August and at every reservation the chef would come out and discuss my options with me. One night there was nothing I wanted and they even sent someone to the local publix and got me a roasted chicken breast. I was overly impressed with their service. Which is one reason we agreed to go again so soon.

A celiac diet is gluten free used to treat celiac disease...intestinal malabsorption syndrome...symptoms are diarrhea, malnutriton.

Gluten includes wheat, rye, oats or barley.

Thank you. I can see now why she mentioned it.

          Re: Celiac diet?

I was at a conference recently that had special dietary consideration. The gluten-free or celiac diet plates were closest to low carb than even what they'd prepared FOR low-carb.

Gluten is a wheat product which means the grains rung. We don't eat at that rung until pretty much pre-maintenance phase. And, that's if we can eat grains at all (particularly wheat).

I agree that Disney is awesome with stuff like that. On our 1st cruise ever we were on Disney and I was on Atkins - they were great with it!

However - since then I've found all cruise ships have incredible food and will work with any diet
