  • I'm not sure I've ever had Induction Flu

Of all the (many, many) times I've started and restarted Atkins, I honestly cannot remember having Induction flu. I'm quite a sickly person anyway and have the worlds shoddiest immune system, so is it possible that I've just had a cold or been sick already?

I got sick just before Christmas, and I'm still sick now with nausea and a headache, stuffy nose and swollen/sore throat, but I didnt go back onto induction until the 26th.

As weird as it may sound, I'm quite worried about why I dont remember having this flu when everyone else is quite certain about getting it :s

Ive never had it either and i always put it down to that fact that ive never drank caffeine and have never really been a sugary person either.

So it's more of a withdrawel thing then? I dont drink caffeine either, and sugary products when I'm not on Atkins come and go in stages - I've more of a savoury person anyway. The only chocolate and candy I have when I'm not eating this way is sugar free lol

snap, yep... ive always classed it as a kind of withdrawl thing.

I guess we're lucky as it doesnt look like a good deal to have to go thru

Thank you!! I've lurked around here for a while but I'm back full force now I have two vacations coming up, one in 3 weeks to see my boyfriend, one in March to go to Spain to stay with my mum, and I'm determined to get in shape for them Enough is enough. I'm actually LOVING it this time around, to the point where I can't wait to go out and go running! I can't wait to have food, it's so weird

Look at you, too! You're doing so well, you're nearly there!

Detox will be different for everyone. Not only are we detoxing from sugar and caffeine. We detox from all the impurities that are put into processed foods. Just in bread alone we detox from yeast that's in the bread , also myco-toxins that are in the grains. Not to mention the preservatives they put into it. You may not get the head ache that one relates to sugar and caffein detox, but you may get the fatigue and just not feeling yourself, such as mood swings when detoxing from processed foods.

During induction I never feel sick per se, I just have one major headache!

Re: I'm not sure I've ever had Induction Flu

I felt great from the first day of induction and never experienced any negative symptoms. I do still drink a couple of cups of "real" coffee in the morning but it has not affected me to this point. I love sweets and chocolate but after a month on this WOE they really do not appeal to me as much as I thought they would.

I still want to get to the alcohol rung though

                      Steph -

I had induction flu terribly the first time around before pregnancy. I had terrible headaches.

This time around, no induction flu at all. Who knows! Personally, I'm thankful, I'd never want to go through that again (but it went away after the first week, when I felt better than ever).
