    It drives me crazy when people tell me how certain lo carb foods such as avocado, cheese, butter, cream cheese and eggs are bad for me. What they don't realize is high fat foods in conjunction with a high carb diet is unhealthy. I really don't feel like debating with them. Ok sorry, just had to rant....

    hey girl wish i could send you the results of my recent bloodwork....EVERTHING came out GREAT...cholesterol is the best it has ever been. that would sure shut them up...but since i can't, just in one ear and out the other...YOU are proof that it works!

        Well, I mean, just look at your after picture! You look like you are at death's door! NOT!! Anyone should be able to look at you and see that you now radiate health and happines. I would ignore them. They are obviously jealous of your success!

          If you want the ammo to shut them up.... get Taubes book Good Calories Bad Calories. Or just wait until they eat a little sugar tell them that sugar causes cancer etc etc.

          Naw, just walk away.

            I hear you there Cherri. I had my share of these naysayers. what gets to my nerves is that most of the naysayers have no clue what they are talking about.. They were going left and right on how bad Atkins is, bla bla.

            The worst day was during thanksgiving, I was just starting it and had people around the house with all negative talk about this WOE. My first question was "Have you read the book?", all returned back with "Well, ah..", "No", "I don't have to read the book to know that".. and these type of answers!! Second question I had "Have you had a bad experience with the diet when you tried it or something?", and again.. all replied back that they haven't tried it!! I had to end the conversation with "Well, then stop being such a stereo type, and either go educate yourself then come back with a scientific proof that it is bad or just stay quite"!

            You try that in a nice way next time you get into such arguments and change the subject right away.. Guess what, one of the strongest naysayers (was) among the group is asking me now on how to start Atkins.. I pointed her out to the right direction. Hehe.. I wish I could rub it in, but what I say, I am a nice person and let it go..

              I've have a few of those. Mostly I just shut up and keep eating. But sometimes I point over at my partner, who is/was a type II diabetic with all kinds of heart problems (although he was never really overweight) and say "Well, since he started he is off all his diabetes drugs and his BP, cholesterol and lipids are the best they have been for years and improving all the time"

              Tends to quiet them down.

                  You look 'hot' according to my husband so hey deal with it (I only get 'cute' from him)

                  Seriously though when it's realtives (who all seem to have health problems BTW) I mention that my bloodwork came back at optimal.

                  Other people I just smile and almost laugh but hey usually when I say I've lost almost 30 lbs so far they shut up.

                    Just want to say, I love reading stories about this. To date, I have only once had someone question the diet, and it was obvious she had no idea what it entailed. I am ready, though, just let someone say something!

                      Ignore them, you look fabulous, and it's probably sticking in their craw that they are starving themselves everyday on low-cal and don't look half as good as you. They're probably secretly jealous of all the yummy foods you get to eat while they cry over their dry and tasteless rice cake nibbles.

                        Thanks for all the nice compliments! I donated blood a couple weeks ago. Today in the mail I received from the blood bank my cholesterol level. And it was 159! I couldn't believe it. Last May it was about 220 ish. I was pretty impressed and it just more proof that this way of eating works!!!!!

                          First I have to say if those are really your before and after pics you look a lot different and did a fantastic job. Beautiful!

                          2nd.... I totally undestand. I told someone at work the other day that I started dong The Atkins Diet and she looked at me like i had just decapitated a cat or something. I had previously been on a liquid diet tht was a product from Robards Industries or something or other but marketed through smaller privately owned places. Anyway She comes off with "Your really into extreme dieting aren't you" All I could think was The food I am eating is healthier than anything I have ever put in my mouth/stomach so how is that extreme... oooooo then i thought if by extreme you mean extremely determined then yah I guess so so I replied "YUP" proudly.

                          Its amazing the lack of knowledge people have about this diet but its sad cause I used to be one of those people until i did the liquid diet because it required a low-cal eating if you chose to eat on the diet. I thought how bad can it really be for god sakes. Once I stopped the liquid and gained it all back plus 10lbs I was overly PO'd. I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT but I don't think i REALLY wanted to then. I DO WANT TO NOW. I think the epiphany is what makes one go more in depth and get the facts as opposed to listening to rumors that ooooo The Atkins Diet can kill you, oooo its bad for you, ooooo youll have a heart attack on it.

                          OK WELL to those people I just want to say ooooo The atkins diet is healthier eating than what you put in your face, oooooooo OK So what proof do you have that its bad for you.... facts please...... and lastly ooooo ANYONE having a history or is predisposed to heart disease or heart failure will have a heart attack no matter what. All one can do is TRY to keep it from happening by being healthy and eating a ton of carbs, sodium, sweetners just doesn't do it. I see now after reseaching and eating better that I WANT someone to tell me that this is bad for me and light me up.
