They have lots of different cheeses, Emma, as well as mayo with less carbs than Hellmans (0.9 carbs per 100 gr) and really nice double cream.
If you can eat nuts without portion control problems they have a nice selection including macadamias which were Dr Atkins preference i think.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

      Re: Lidl fans?

I shop a lot at Lidl, but don't buy those sausages, not because of anything in them, I'm just not mad about that sort of sausage. They have some good salamis too, though some have sugar.

There is usually a reasonable and well priced choice of veg, including Daikon, which I can't get anywhere else. Their avocados are good and very cheap. They also do bags of frozen chicken breasts on the bone and with the skin on, which are a great freezer standby.

I also buy dried herbs and spices, bacon bits, cheese, bags of frozen prawns and cold meats. They don't always have them but they do these frozen shellfish kebab type things with butter that are seriously yum.

On the non-food side they have the best black bin bags and the best tin foil anywhere.

I know it's not on your list now, but for future reference they have a champagne called Grand Prestige Premium Cuvée Brut which is divine and fantastic value - it's not sweet, very dry actually and is the one I got sloshed on before Christmas. The hosts of that party went though an onerous week before hand tasting various champagnes, and it won by a mile although it was by far the cheapest.

          omg aldi \o/
being german i love my aldi, too bad none is really close to where i live now and the dutch aldi has not the same great choice the german aldi has but i'd go there anyway ;D

as for lidl, its not a shop i go to often but they do have an amazing variety in cheeses, sausage and especially salami here and fish, loads of fish.
no clue what else they would have in the UK tho
Date to reach goal: I don't care, as long as it happens :P

Daikon looks like a big white carrot and you can treat it, eat it and cook it pretty much any way you would carrot. I grate it and use it instead of carrot in coleslaw, which works really well - that's my favourite use for it.

              Re: Lidl fans?

Back to your original question about sausages. We have an Aldi about 10 miles away from me, everytime I am out in that direction I pick up a couple of packs of their Bratwurst. They are really meaty and from memory hardly any if any at all, fillers.

there are only two reasons I go to Aldi, bottled water (.89p for 4 x 2 litre bottles) and the aforementioned sausages.

I remember Aldi! They had them in my old neighborhood. Their produce was super cheap, but I don't remember eating their sausages. Might have to make a trip to see my parents and buy some groceries.

BTW I was amazed to find last time I went to Germany that they have the same goods at the same price - only we pay in pounds instead of euros - so in effect we pay about 50% more in UK!!

But I can't wait to get back to UK Supermarkets. Even ASDA is streets ahead of any German Store - Lidl/Aldi is about their level. Even allowing for the very different range of goods, I don't rate them, and the fresh produce just doesn't last.

O for a Sainsburys - Waitrose would be heaven.

It wasn't the same when I fist came to Germany in 1977 - the n the German economy was riding high and the UK financial situation rock bottom. The supermarkets I saw then were amazing in comparison to their UK equivalents.
