  • Day 4 and I feel MISERABLE

Today is my 4th day on the atkins diet and boy do I feel horrible. I have had a headache since the 2nd day, i go to bed at 8:30 and I am so sick to my stomach that I do not even want to eat. I can not figure this out. The last time I started eating like this i had so much energy by now. What gives this time? Is this normal?

Yep, and it will pass. Just hang in there, drink plenty of water and stay tough.

Your body is just ridding it's self of sugars, caffeine, etc.. Soon you will feel great again. Hang in there.

It does get better. Try some Advil for the headache and stay strong.

Last time, you may have gone into ketosis quicker. Depends on how much glycogen you have stored, and how active you are (to use up that store of glycogen)

Ditto what everyone has already said. It will soon pass. Also try not to compare everything to "last time". This is a new journey & things will be different.

Re: Day 4 and I feel MISERABLE

Im glad to hear that all of this is normal. however last night was the worst night i have had in a long time. i never would have thought that i would get so sick by just giving up carbs . But i AM sticking with it, To know that it is only temporary helps so much and the anticipation of waiting on some much needed energy is keeping me going.

I do have one other question, how often should we be weighing, I don't plan on weighing until after my first two weeks are up, then after than what is the plan?

btw, i do feel somewhat better this morning

Re: Day 4 and I feel MISERABLE

I now weigh in once a week. In the beginning it was every 2 weeks.
                Everyone is different about this.

Just remember that your weight fluctuates daily thus don't weigh daily. Dr. A suggests not weighing in daily for this reason. You'll find info about this in your book....2002 version of Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolutin.

Hang in there. As everyone else has said, this awful feeling will pass, and when the weight starts to drop, you'll forget all about the first few days!
