Has Anyone quit coffee and started drinking water and gained weight?
I did and went from 164 to 170 in 2 weeks. I started drinking 8 glasses of water a day for 2 weeks and saw my weight climb 5 lbs.

I am so depressed, afraid no matter what i do i will keep on gaining back to my original weight of 200.

    Hiya Little Nemo.

Don't panic. Water will not cause you to gain weight. On the contrary, the more you drink the more it'll help your weight loss... particularly if it's cold water as it takes considerable energy to raise that water to body temperature.

This sounds like a water retention thing to me, and may be caused by withdrawal from caffeine (pls correct me if I'm wrong, anyone). It should pass soon if this is the cause.
    Other considerations:
Have you altered your diet at all? Introduced new foods/higher carb levels?
    Are you near TOM?
Have you started strenuous exercise and gained muscle weight (which is good)?
Have you taken your measurements? (often we gain lbs but lose inches)

Give us a little more info and we'll be able to help better.

Hang in there and don't let yourself get depressed about the evil scale. Easier said than done, I know, but I'm sure this is temporary or a hitch that just a little tweak will sort out.
You've done something right to have lost 36 lbs (applause), so you know Atkins works for you. Stay confident.

      Re: Weight Gained

      only 30 now since i went from 164 to 170 =(
      1. Altered Diet: Nope went strict induction to remove coffee (otherwise was on extended induction)

      2. Not near my TOM, that was 2 weeks ago.

      3. Started Swimming Daily 2 weeks ago.

      4. No Measurements were taken

If it is water retention, I am going to the store today to make whooshie pie, pick up apple cider vinger and ketone strips to see if i am indeed in ketosis =(

It is very hard for me to see myself again for two weeks straight. =(

Cafeine is a diuretic. So like Sally said, you might have been slightly dehyrated this whole time and by ditching the coffee, your body is going back to its real hydration state.

Continue drinking water. Avoid the cafeine. Once your body is back on its proper water balance, you will most likely see the changes.

I don't know how much coffee or other caffeine you were drinking but it is well known that caffeine is a major diuretic (causes water loss) and it is certainly possible that you were dehydrated slightly and are now well hydrated. Some high sodium foods may cause temporary fluid retention but the cure for that is to drink MORE water to balance things out. Make sure you are drinking 64 ounces per day PLUS another 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you want to lose.

Only suppose to have 3 servings of Splenda a day.

              1 serving = 1 packet = "about 1 gram of carbohydrate" per Dr. A
