    Re: Help!!I Can't Stop Cheating!

I know how you feel! It's really hard to not give into those temptations when you have cravings but you have to stay strong! What seems to work for me when I'm tempted to just give in and go back to eating the way I was is, I think of all the reasons I started this WOE in the first place, I want to be healthy and happy with my body and eating all the bad things I used to isnt going to get me there. So just stay strong and fight those cravings, drink lots of water! Make plenty of food and snacks that you can take with you wherever you go and that should help a lot with giving in.

I hope this helped! You did a good thing coming here for support also, you could even do that whenever you feel a craving coming on instead of giving in to it and we can help talk you out of it!
Good luck and stay strong you CAN do this!

Been there, done that! I think we've all been in the place you're at. The way I handle that situation, is that I look at my current pictures, and I don't like what I see. I also have my skinny pictures next to it. That is my incentive to stay on track! I want to look and feel good about myself!

When you have those cravings, DO NOT give in by making a legal treat--that just prolongs the cravings cycle. Kill your sweet tooth and eat something really fatty and delicious (my favorite was a "fake pizza"--microwave slices of pepperoni and shredded mozzarella on a plate, topped with green pepper chunks, and a dash of oregano) and drink some water.

Getting your mind off the craving helps too--go for a walk, read a book, call a friend.

You CAN do this. The first few days are the hardest, because those sugar demons are still taunting you.

It may not feel like it but you are in a very lucky position - just starting, which means you are only a few days away from the most amazing revelation of the Atkins Induction phase - gaining control of your appetite. It happens, and it's nothing short of a miracle. It gives you breathing space and time to start planning the rest of your journey.

What you need to do is this:

          - Don't start thinking about lifetime plans just yet, just determine to give this a week, then reevaluate.

          - Eat a LOT, legal, but a lot. Never, ever let yourself be hungry. Forget about calories or anything like that. EVERY time you feel even a little hungry, eat something.

          - Buy lots and lots of legal food and fill your fridge with it.

          - Make snacks in advance (there are lots of ideas here if you look around) so that when you feel like eating there is something tasty and legal available.

          - Make sure you are eating a lot of fat - don't worry too much about amounts, but for now don't have one spoon of mayonaise when you could have two, melt butter on your veg, have a great big dollop of cream in your soup, whatever. It will help a LOT in curbing your appetite.

You can refine all this later, for now what you want is control. I can safely promise you that if you stick with it for just a few days control will be yours.

I know this will sound bizarre and improbable to you now, but there have been posts like yours in the past where the people then stuck to the plan for just a few days, then were back posting about how they were having trouble eating enough in a day because they just were not hungry.

You CAN do just a few days, a week. That's not much. You know you can do that.

Well, what do you want more? To lose weight, or eat sweets? It all boils down to that simple choice. The good news is that if you stick w/ Atkins for at least a few days, the sweets cravings will go away for the most part, and you can concentrate on the losing weight part. But for now, you simply have to make a choice.
100 pounds gone forever from 12/03-11/04. Thank you Dr. Atkins, may you rest in peace...

L-glutamine was crucial in helping me battle the sugar cravings when I started.

Eating fat/protein mixture helps to keep those sweet cravings away for me! I'll reach for egg salad, tuna salad or something like that, it works every time!

You can get by this and when you do, you'll feel stronger than ever!!

Put a picture of something thinspiring on your refridgerator! That way, the next time you go for something sweet, you'll have something to remind you of why you won't eat it!

To borrow an idea from another member...everytime you cheat make yourself eat the food naked in front of a full-length mirror.

Thank all of you so much. My biggest problem is when I'm working the graveyard shift. I work in a truck stop and there's sweet stuff all around. I'm okay at home because it's not around me. You guys gave alot of great ideas and hopefully the next time i post something, it'll be something good.
