  • Messed up...By Mistake

    Hi everyone.

This morning I am totally feeling bad about a little mishap that happened last night. I bought some jello which i thought was sugar free. Much to my suprise and after I had ate one cup of it, i realized it was not sugar free and had like 25 carbs in the one cup. I didnt eat anything else after that, but i still feel bad. Ugh.

Also, i'm starting to get a little discouraged as reality sets in. This weight is not going to fly off super fast. I know its only been almost 2 weeks but i'm not even seeing an initail weight loss, at least not a big one. And I just don't feel as great as everyone tells me that i will. Wheres the energy???????? I'm still sticking with it and HOPING, that by the end of two weeks i will have some sort of loss thats more than 4 pounds.

    Re: Messed up...By Mistake

Unfortunately, Rome wasn't built in a day. For most of us it took all our lives to put the weight on so we can't expect it to come off in a month or two. You'll notice if you look at the success stories here that most of the people who have lost the weight, reached goal, and kept it off were in the weight loss phases for a year or more. There are no quick fixes no matter which plan you are following and really, does it matter how fast it comes off so long as it's coming off? This is a lifetime way of eating, not a hurried brief recital so be prepared for the long haul.

That being said, perhaps there is something you are eating that is causing weight loss to slow? A lot of people are eating more carbs than they think. It would probably be a good idea to post your daily menu in the menu review forum where the experts there can point out what is wrong (if indeed anything is).

Best of luck and if you need anything please feel free to give a shout!

Don't fret too much about the jello, what's done is done, just chalk it up to experience and move on. It shows how super-careful you need to be about reading packages.

On the rate of loss. If I understand you correctly, you have lost 4 pounds, your two weeks of induction are not yet complete, and you have 84 pounds to lose. Right?

The general guideline is that you will lose 5-10% of the weight you need to lose during induction, you have already lost just about 5% and induction is not complete. You are right on track.

This way of eating is not a miracle, it requires effort and patience and belief, both in yourself and the plan. Weight comes off when it's good and ready. It is futile and disspiriting to compare your losses with those of anyone else, everyone is different.

That said, I agree with Jace, it would be a very good idea to post a typical day's menus - people who know the plan well may be able to spot a thing or two that will make it easier for you.

Jello is great, isn't it? You can make your own by using 1 pkt regular kool aid, 1 pkt unflavored gelatin (like Knox), sweetener, and 3 1/2 c water. If you use liquid Splenda, there are 0 carbs! If you use the powdered Splenda, be sure to count the carbs.
