  • NEW EXERCISERS (Challenge???)

I would like to start a new exercisers challenge something that we could stick with for 12 weeks. What I would like to do is start out small and have little challenges every week building us up slowly to doing more.

I think something like this would be a big help to those out there who are not exercising right now or for those who have been away from it right now.

    What do you all think??

    Re: NEW EXERCISERS (Challenge???)

I would be interested in something like that.......I'm terrible at exercising, new to Atkins and just really getting started on my weightloss, I think this would be perfect. My only drawback is that I have NO exercise equipment and NO gym membership and both are out of the question right now. I do have Exercise OnDemand through my cable company.

ALL that you need it the great outdoors an exercise ball and a set of 5 lbs dumbells and you are well on your way.

I will have to see about the challenge. I didn't know that it had to be approved through Jimmie so I will keep you posted on what happens with that.

      Thanks for your support

              Re: NEW EXERCISERS (Challenge???)

You can do weight training without weights, although a ball is really nice and is only about $12. Much cheaper than buying a weight bench. And, if you can't afford the ball, well, I used my coffee table for a long time and still do!

As for weights. Use canned vegetables instead of dumbells. As your muscles get more efficient, you can increase the size of the can, or fill milk jugs with sand, etc.

The challenge is a go Ladies so I will start a sign up sheet for Febuary 1st. I had to make it a round Number. Until then don't lose your Modivation and keep up with it start a little bit of exercise.

Like Joy said you don't need weights or a bench all you need it the household goods. When you have 20 bucks in your pocket that's enough to buy a ball and 2 5 lbs hand weights at walmart.

                  Great Job everyone

I think I will start the new challenge under

I just want to let everyone here know that Sarah (iyamamaschke) taught me and coached me and encouraged me when I first starte exercise. She'll never steer you wrong. She is awesome to work with.

Lift weights, lift your body weight, lift those cans of food we can no longer eat! It doesn't matter.

If you want to change the shape of your body, Sarah can help you do it! Strength training is awesome and you won't go wrong doing it.

This is actually a much harder exercise on the ball than it is on a bench because you have to use your core muscles (abs and back and legs) to keep yourself stable.

Thanks Joy for helping with this Question. The answer is Yes, you want the big stability bal it is used just as a bench would be used except it's harder the amount of exercises you can do with it is endless.

Joy maybe you could show a 6 week before and after picture when we were working out together.

Here they are. These were taken from the first six weeks of working with Sarah. I'd been on Atkins for just 3 months, and that was only a 12.3 lb loss between the two pictures in 6 weeks.

Here is the original thread: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=28045

I've strength trained off and on over the last two years. I can absolutely say that whenever I weight train, my body makes the MOST visible changes. More than the running or anything else I do.
