  • I failed somethig terriable

Well you guys for the past 2 hrs. I have been at my niece birthday party I've been locked in her room on the site, so Iwon't smeel the food . So of course their about to sing Happy Birthday and she's looking for me I am forced to come downstairs (by a 4 yr. old ) and to top it off she cries bloody murder because I did not taste all of the great party food she help to prepare. I tried a zillion excuses and it did not work her excuse is you are my only familt here besides mom and dad so that was the end I ate everything she gave me and now eating a piece of cake. I hate myself for this I was on day three and feeling great. When will I be able to start induction again? and how long will it take to see these same great results? I feel Like a FOOL

    Start NOW!!
Make your very next bite of food induction-legal and continue following induction rules for the next 11 days and you might not see any disastrous effects of this off-plan hiatus!

    Edited to add:
Next time there is a similar occasion you will need to make some plans to allow you to stay on plan foodwise. Maybe you could suggest to her some special (Atkins-legal) food she could make that you could eat with her?
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!

I agree with Elizellen. Start immediately and make plans on what you'll eat and do at all the occassions that create obstacles. There will be many but if you plan ahead, you won't have a problem saying no and enjoying yourself.
        Starting Date 3/12/04 285/165/145 - F

Yes... ditto what Becky and Elizellen said. Planning beforehand on these occasions is paramount. The idea of your niece making something Atkins legal with you or specially for you, is a great one. Tell her that her auntie has a bad reaction to certain foods and has to avoid them. Once your niece knows the score, she won't want you to feel ill because of her, for sure.
Actually... planning beforehand on any occasion is paramount. Always have a legal snack to hand for emergencies.

Hop back on the wagon right away. You can do this!!

Might i also add that hiding from the food is only gonna make you feel left out. You never went to parties just for the food. Family and friends and socializing are what these things are all about. Often times when dealing with those that insist i eat their foods i take a small plat and carry it around with me for a little while before discreetly throwing it away. Telling them everything was delish but i am stuffed so no thanks i don't need anymore. I drink my water and enjoy the socialization.
