  • Weight loss and cockiness

Once I found out I lost 12lbs, got my hair cut and my got glasses I was "Walking on sunshine". I felt like it was all gone even though in the back of my mind i there is more to go. If I feel this empowered by 12lbs what am I going to be like when I can walk into a room and shut everyone up?

Anyone else had this happen or am I just cocky by nature lol.

          Re: Weight loss and cockiness

i try to avoid that feeling of being satisfied with what i have accomplished....call it cockiness if you will. because that is the very moment when i start to think i can do whatever i want to. currently, my focus has been slightly changing from the foods i put into my mouth to exercise. this is a good thing and a bad thing. the increased exercise makes up for my cravings outside the atkins food list..but i dont want to end up back where i started!! so i have to be very very careful. i must always be striving for something just beyond my reach. because once i feel i have attained what i want......thats my moment of weakness

i have to be careful, we all do.....with the foods that i choose to put into my mouth!!!!

            Re: Weight loss and cockiness

People have always said there is a fine line between being confident and being cocky.

Ive lost 52 lbs since starting Atkins back in the end of August. Even though I still have a lot to lose, I feel a lot more confident in myself now than I did at my highest weight.

Keep up the good work. Feel good about yourself and dont hesitate to show how you feel. It will only make your weight loss journey that more easier to do.

Be glad that you feel that way. Some of us have a hard time realizing that the fat is gone and we still see ourselves still in a fat suit. I remember after I had lost 100 pounds (didn't have any mirror in my house but the small bathroom mirror) I was approaching a store and the light was just right on the glass doors--I started to step aside for that 'thin woman' coming towards me. It took me a second to realize it was my reflection. I know people thought I was crazy when I just turned from side to side to admire my new look. I now have a full length mirror.

I kind of feel the same way as you and I have lost around 12lbs. I think its confidence and thats was makes you beautiful!! For me it has been the small things. Like, painting my nails again, and putting on make-up before my husband gets home from work. I can't wait to see how we feel when all the weight comes off Good job!!

Be confident, be happy, be proud. But be prepared. Many pitfalls lurk in your future. Be prepared for 4 weeks eating right and no weight loss. Be prepared for 4 of your best friends to say at once: "come on, what is one little slice of pizza going to hurt".

yeah, i always immediately feel more confident about my weight when i'm on atkins, even though i felt awful at this weight when i was putting it on, i feel great at this weight on the way down! and the only things thats different is my attitude towards myself, i think thats one of the big changes atkins makes to your life. there's more than just the physical health benifits to it

                          I'm totally agreeing with this.

By all means, be confident in yourself. It seems to go with the territory of weight loss.

Just be careful about becoming too cocky to others. Remain approachable and humble, not distant and snooty.

                            Re: Weight loss and cockiness

after losing almost 100lbs, my entire life has changed. People notice me, they stare, I used to ignore them and/or lash out to the catcallers, but now I look at them, smile, and say Thanks! I'm nicer. I was mean when I was fat. I had a wall up like nobodys business. I exuded confidence as a large woman. Today my confidence level is so high that I am humbled by it. It might take some thinking over for it to make sense, but it's what's happened to me.

On another note, something chris said resonated with me, he said:
i try to avoid that feeling of being satisfied with what i have accomplished....call it cockiness if you will. because that is the very moment when i start to think i can do whatever i want to.

This is so very true. Mind yourself. If you get too cocky, you'll think you can have that bite and go on. It's the beginning of a horrendous cycle, kudos to you chris, for realizing this in yourself.

Great job on the almost 14lbs now! You're doing FANTASTICALLY!!!
