  • Not hungry

I'm having trouble eating lately, not trouble sticking to the diet, I just think it's working too well, because I quit craving food altogether, lol.

I have to force myself to eat because I'm never hungry anymore, and once I take that first bite, then I know I'm hungry and I enjoy my meal. But before I actually make it I just lack total motivation to put it together because I'm just not that hungry. Is this normal?

I do eat three meals a day like clockwork because my metabolism is slow enough without adding starvation into the mix, but nothing looks good or sounds good. Probably for the best, since I'm used to thinking of eating as an event or entertainment of some kind, so maybe my body is getting used to looking at it as just food, something to fuel the body, nothing more. If that's the case, then I couldn't be happier, because I'm tired of food being more important than it actually is.

    Re: Not hungry

Appetite suppression is a side effect of ketosis/lipolysis.

I think you should post a menu in the Review My Menu forum. Many people make the mistake of eating as close to 0 carbs as possible, in hopes that they will lose weight faster, etc. But that's not necessarily true. So post a menu and let the folks there review it for you.

      Re: Not hungry

Thanks for your response! I'm actually on OWL Rung 1, so I'm eating as close to 25 net carbs as possible. Lots-o-veggies. I'm trying to do everything by the book because I don't want to stall or starve my body in anyway, I'm just not all that hungry these days. Is ketosis normal in in the OWL phase? I thought it was just supposed to happen during induction?

        Re: Not hungry

By definition a "ketogenic" diet (a diet in which ketosis occurs) is less than 100-130 grams carbohydrate. So during OWL, you're in ketosis. It might not register on the ketostix, but you're still in it.

Thank you very much, I also posted my menu, just to make sure all things are on the up and up.

            Re: Not hungry

On Rung 1 I am very much still in ketosis...I make myself eat every couple of hours to avoid the starvation mode. It seems to work, plus lots of water!
