  • question about belly

Ok up untill now I have not wanted to ask but since I saw the post about the man boobs thought what the heck.

I have had 3 children and it looks like I have 2 bellys. The muffin top under my boobs and then flabby skin belly below. I have seen it get a little smaller on Atkins but I am wondering if I will need surgery once I lose all my weight can anyone tell me what they have experianced? I have never had a flat stomach but never has it been this bad. I still have about 50 lbs to lose.

    Thanks for your input.

    Re: question about belly

Check out the book "loose your mummy tummy". It is all about getting your abs flat again after pregnancy. It has some great (and uncommon) exercises to flatten your belly. I have 60 pounds to loose and I'm dealing with the same thigs that you wrote about. I think that the exercises in this book will help a lot. Good luck!

      Re: question about belly

Oh I am glad you posted this. I have never had a big problem with my stomach... even being overweight. Since I had my daughter my stomach sounds just like yours. My pants are getting soo loose in my thighs and back area, but my stomach feels just as tight. I figured I would just have to have a tommy tuck when I am all done having kids, and hopefully thats not for a long time so I want to look good in the mean time. I will have to check out that book. Thanks

          I feel your pain!!
I too have had 3 babies - 2 of which were huge! I only weigh 114 (started at 133 - but high after pregnancy was around 170) right now, my stomach is flat, abs are in there, I can feel them, it's the "chicken skin" that is the problem and I think the only way I am going to get rid of it is to have a tummy tuck. Working your abs is great, and losing fat will help with the paunch, but nothing helps the loose crepe paper skin.
I have talked to a doctor but I'm afraid that I would die - so for now, I'm putting it off - I'm a wuss

The book is available on Amazon. When you search for it remember it's spelled "Mummy" not "Mommy".

The exercises are great...the way it is written is a little goofy but I know that the author (a former physical therapist) has helped a lot models and acresses get back in shape.

She also wrote a book about exercise during pregancy for any of you planning more little ones. I actually had a private training session with her when I was pregnant. She's a bit of a nut but she knows her stuff.

My "tummy" is the last part of my body that the fat is sticking to. I am sure everyone has different areas but for me its my tummy that I am most disappointed in.

Eventually, in time it will go I am sure, but its going to be a slow burner.

It never ceases to amaze me of how easy and how effective this ***diet*** is!!

I have since re-gained a bit of weight, but that is soon to be coming off again!

                  Re: question about belly

When I lost my weight the first time a few years ago, I worked out daily, did alot of ab work, as well as cardio & weights, and my stomach & butt were decreased drastically, even my thighs. Most of my weight gain went right to those areas. One of the exercise programs I did, and found it to be very successful for me is Slim in 6. It did wonders for me in 6 weeks, and I re-started it 1 week ago. So excercise & this WOE, is the key for success.

Thank you all for your replies. I will check the book out.

As for the comment in one of the other posts. I find I have lost the majority of my 30 lbs weight loss so far every where but my stomach so I suspect it will be the last to go also.

NT2b4gtn thank you for asking that question, it prompted me to ask mine. Thats awesome that your an open person. I am too usually but I find when it comes to questions like I wrote its some what harder for me to open up. I hope that the guys in here answer your question for you. Unfortunatly I dont have a answer for you since I am a woman but I can say I have NO boobs left from the weight loss LOL.

Hang in there we will make it .

                          Re: question about belly

I am 5'2 and also have the stomach area as my biggest problem (arms too) but I think as we get closer to goal we will be so much better off. I use to work out at a passive exercise place, I lost about 40 lbs there and did so well, I was used as an ad in our local paper. One thing that I remember from the place was seeing a picture of a overweight person (cartoon) and then pictures of that same person as they lost weight. It got smaller and smaller but the lumpiness was there until it was closer to goal weight then the lumps started to go away. I hope you can understand what I am trying to say here. We just need to work at it until we get closer to goal and then we will start to smooth out. As far as the boobs are concerned, I am losing in the boobs, but when I started out my stomach was further out than my boobs, I have lost in the bust but at least they still stick out past my stomach. All in proportion, you know!
Good luck, may we all get flat tummies in the near future!

Maybe the gents here are a bit shy to post personal experiences so everyone can read them - why not post your question in the 'Atkins for Men forum' and see if they are more forthcoming in private without all the female eyes looking?
