"Warning: Excessive consumption may cause laxative effect"

Surely one or two pieces isn't excessive, but I am still having the laxative effect! I haven't tried much sugar free candy but what I have tried really messes with me! Do others have this same problem? Is this just the way it is or is there other candy that would be better?

I don't eat much sugar free candy at all and didn't have any through induction but before I started I would always have a little something sweet after dinner and now that I'm out of induction I thought I would try it. I don't think I will be wanting much more though!

There was a time when you could buy good sugar free candy that did not make you run for the bathroom. Z-Carb bars, may you rest in peace.

Make sure oyucheck the carbs on thatSF candy. I went through Walreens the other day llike a mad woman on crack looking for a fix. LOL and of course all of them had carbs. I know if you can find a Confectionary near where you live or within a reasonable driving distane they most likely will have SF stuff.

That Cocoa idea sounds really good. What makes my mout water is tat with some watered down cream heated up for ano carb hot cocoa and BTW ..... you ave such a impish grin. That bottom picture makesya look like you just did somethin bad.

Oh, I LOVE cream cheese. I put sweetzfree (splenda) in it and this stuff called "True Lime" it has no sugar and no carbs and it tastes like key lime cheesecake. I got the idea from jimmy moore DEEEEELISH!!!

I avoid sugar free candy like the plague. Besides the *issues* it causes, I am convinced it stalls weight loss.

Thank you! My sister is in CA and my parents are in GA so they very sweetly send me things that I can't find here! I will put in an order for true lime right away! I love lime but don't want to use it because of the diet so it will be great for me. I'm thinking of all kinds of uses for it already! I wonder if I could even make a faux margarita with it...

Sugar free candy gave me the most painful case of gas that I've ever had. I'll be passing on all chemical engineered candy from now on.
The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an eggs-and-ham breakfast:
the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'.

                        Re: Sugar Free Candy

Sugar Free candies are made with sugar alcohols such as maltitol, xylitol, lacitol etc... which are chemically modified sugars which the body will not recognize as sugar and pass it through the system like it does fibre. And, well...you know what lots of fibre makes you do So it is a natural conclusion to make that any amount has the potential to turn your stomach as sugar alcohols are one of those things that you need to build up a resistance to.

Like any other prepackaged product, everyone's mileage with them varies and they definitely can cause stalls as many also have aspartame and other sweeteners blended in. However, most sugar alcohols still have a small effect on blood sugar as well so the total numbers of carbs listed on the package are going into your body, but only some of them are being absorbed. The actual amount will vary from person to person! So "sugar free" is only relative to each persons body.

On the up side, they are not metabolised by mouth bacteria so you won't get tooth decay from eating them.

Crack an egg in there, blend it and microwave it for a couple of minutes. It makes it more custardish, not to mention a fab breakfast. A dash of lemon juice and vanilla extract give it a true cheesecake taste. Yum.

I avoid the sugar free candy like I would avoid a guy chasing after me with a chainsaw. I know that I can't just have one or two. I dont care how many carbs it does or doesnt have I just have no willpower when it comes to it.

When I do crave something sweet I love certain veggies *red peppers seem to be the sweetest to me* or I will also have a mock danish. It's pretty much 1 oz cream cheese, 1 egg, 1 packet splenda, and some vanilla flavoring *or any kind of flavoring you like, almond is also good* blend VERY well together then microwave for about a minute and 30 seconds. Top this with some butter and it just so tasty!
