It's freezing here in NY and my bones have a chill in them. I want hot chocolate soooo bad but the stores are closed since it's Sunday plus I haven't even been able to find a store that carries low carb or sugar free hot chocolate... grrrrr! I dislike coffee or tea, not in the mood for soup. Any way to make mock hot chocolate?

Re: Hot chocolate craving!
Cool, glad you found something to sooth you! My grandmother used to make homemade hot chocolate with cocoa powder sugar and evaporated milk.
When I have made hot chocolate in the past I used.. heavy cream or half and half, cocoa and splenda.

Re: Hot chocolate craving!
Now I do have Swiss Miss "Diet" Hot Cocoa
It has 25 calories and 3 net carbs which isn't bad AT ALL!!! It's tasty too!!! I add a little cream to make it creamier...lol
Be sure if you get this you get "Diet" and NOT the "No Sugar Added" one.
The one with "No Sugar Added" has less calories, but has 9 net carb.
I usually do make my own hot cocoa. I use...
1 cup Almond Milk, unsweetened
1 tbsp Hershey's Cocoa Powder, unsweetened
1 tbsp Heavy Whipping Cream
Sweetzfree or Splenda to taste
1 Shot of SF Davinci Vanilla Syrup (if desired...you can also use any flavor you like...chocolate would probably be nice)
After, I whip up a little heavy whipping cream to add on top and sprinkle with a little cocoa powder. It's DELISH!!!
It's 110 Calories (without the whip cream on top) and 3 net carbs with the Sweetzfree. If you use Splenda the carb count would be slightly higher.
Enjoy!!!*~Nicole~*

Re: Hot chocolate craving!
is the price a lot higher than regular swiss miss? It seems it costs us an extra dollar or two to print the word diet on anything.Originally posted by Oh.2.B.FitOh, and I found the "DIET" Swiss Miss at Walmart. I haven't seen it anywhere else.
I've only done this once but I've heated the chocolate calorie countdown before for hot chocolate and I usually mix a little of the regular calorie countdown in with the chocolate to lower the carbs a bit and the intensity of the chocolate flavor. Its strong by itself.

Re: Hot chocolate craving!
Lol. I do the same thing, but I add a tablespoon of low-carb peanut butter. What I hate about Swiss Miss is that it's very difficult to dissolve in hot water and there are usually globs of chocolate floating around. Adding cream and peanut butter then putting in a blender gives it a thicker foamier texture.Originally posted by Oh.2.B.FitNow I do have Swiss Miss "Diet" Hot Cocoa

Before Swiss Miss Diet found it's way to local supermarkets here in the Philippines, I used unsweetened Hershey's Cocoa and splenda. Tastes basically the same as when I use Swiss Miss, but Swiss Miss is way more convenient.Robbie T., 240/180/160. 41yr Male, Height 5'9"
